Short (calf or below) waterproof boots for dog walking

I have leather Ariats for cold wet winter walks but I find them too hot in the summer, however with the lousy weather we are having I could really do with a pair of shorter waterproof boots.
I tend to find wellies rub as I have long thin bony feet and ankles but if anyone has any suggestions for decent wet weather short boots that don't break the bank... please share!

I love my fleece lined joules wellibobs but I’m not sure they really fit in a stylish category

StillMedusa · 05/08/2021 23:28

I'm not worried about stylish Grin I wear whatever suits the weather.. currently wearing a fabulous rain proof poncho for dog walking which makes me look like a tent on the move! I'll have a look at Joules, thanks!

I have the short crocs wellies for dog walking - so easy to slip on and off

User2309 · 06/08/2021 03:34

I really like my hunter ankle wellies. They have a slight wedged sole. I think they are called something like a play boot.

Got some Decathlon horse riding boots (ankle high), £10, got them for like 5 years, wear them all the time.

I've got some Muckboots - called Liberty I think - and they're just pull on ankle boots. I've lived in them this summer.

Loads of shorter wellies look good. I have cheapo Amazon ones but there are better ones around. Hunter do pricey ones but Regatta have some for £15.

M&S have ankle height wellies in too. I got some floral ones which are great for dog walking in this miserable weather.

I have some joules ankle wellies - perfect for this weather. I wear muckboots in the winter & thinking of getting a short version.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 07/08/2021 15:36

Joules rainboots, are quite good not as heavy and welly like as the welliebobs, perfect for summer.

I have just bought some Grubs short wellies as i sent back the muck boots due to leaks. They are brilliant and seem much better made than muck boots which seem to be going the same way as hunters.

Trailback are on my wish list but can't justify getting them.

itsnotmeitsu · 07/08/2021 20:49

I have some Joules wellies, and love the colour. But Doc Martens can pretty much survive all types of weather. Expensive, but can last for ever. Once they're worn so, so comfortable as well.

AncientandFabulous · 08/08/2021 08:47

Thanks WowIlikereallyhateyou I’ll take a look.

ILoveShula · 08/08/2021 10:52

Doc Martens used to last forever, much modern ones aren't likely to. Look at Solovairs instead.

Some Timberlands are waterproof.

I really like the Trailback boots. DMs and Timberland make boots that are a bit like them.

Darkchocolateandcoffee · 08/08/2021 10:55

OMG those Trailback boots are three hundred quid!

Has anyone got some and if so please can you say what's so great about them?

AlwaysLatte · 08/08/2021 10:56

The trouble with Joules wellies/wellibobs is they deteriorate with UV light so they don't last one the Willie stands in our porch. I buy Dunlop wellies now, very ugly and cheap but well made and durable. I too would like to find some shorter ones for dog walking though.

AlwaysLatte · 08/08/2021 10:57

Wellie stands, not Willie stands Blush

ILoveShula · 08/08/2021 17:53

Damn, they wee £275 the last time I looked.
I think they look good quality and I like that they have vibram soles.

Must remember to not leave my wellibobs on a willy stand

BrilloPaddy · 08/08/2021 19:30

Love those trailback boots! Roll on payday.

Delatron · 08/08/2021 22:24

Now I want some of those trailback boots!
