I’ve forgotten how to dress

Please help! After 18 months of working from home I’ve forgotten how to dress for a work environment!

I have an event coming up in September which is a residential course where I will be facilitating and need to look reasonably senior. It’s not client facing though so doesn’t need to be heels and a suit.

My typical style is the ubiquitous midi dress and trainers but I don’t think I can get away with trainers, and it will be too warm for boots and tights.

What do I wear on my feet?! How do people style midi dressses. Or even shorter dresses? I’m not keen on getting my legs out really….

Some outfit inspiration would be great - I’m early thirties, short and large chested, size 10.

Budget about £300 for outfits for 5 days… what would you invest in?

You don't need to wear dresses at all if you don't like getting your legs out. Wear trousers. And to be honest, even if it WERE client facing you still don't HAVE to wear heels with a suit!

I think well chosen trainers are absolutely fine - Veja, for instance. I’m a trendy 40 and I would probably wear a midi dress from Sezane, skirt/top from Sezane, short loose dress with long sleeves from ASOS, Sezane or And Other Stories.

Vejas for them all or whatever the Sezane website had paired with the dress in the photo shoot as I have also forgotten what to wear out. Acne ankle boots?. 😳

You can still wear midi dresses but wear them with boots...ankle or longer. If you're worried it will look too casual, add a blazer.

This silhouette looks stylish...the boots are a bit much but you don't need to get red or high like that.
