Can anyone help me with this outfit please?

I have a party coming up (my birthday) and really struggling with an outfit. Can’t find any dresses I like that suit me so I’m thinking now go skirt and top. I’m thinking black skirt, either peplum or cross over short skirt and thinking a corset pretty type top but I can’t find anything!! Any tops that I come across are cropped or I don’t like. I want straps at least, ideally pretty:sparkly not floral.

Can anyone help me and suggest something please?

I have never heard of a peplum or cross over skirt, so that might be where you're going wrong.

A cross over skirt is not the ‘correct’ term but I don’t know what they are called. They look like a wrap skirt but it is a bit longer on one side, keep seeing them everywhere at the moment. I like them.
I’m a size 8-10 if that is relevant…

Peplum skirt again problem not the correct word! That is nice @Chocolateemergency although also looks like it will be quite short, I don’t want a gap between skirt and the top as my belly will hang out! It doesn’t have to be a corset top, something a bit ‘special’ but I can’t find anything? Don’t want long sleeved either

I'd try the high street type shops. Both ends of it. Maybe New Look and Phase Eight.
New Look is often good for a party dress, and Phase Eight will probably have something like an outfit that you can wear again.
