Nails at home?

Years ago I had a sensationail DIY gel nails set. It was very good, but as financial circumstances changed I began to get my nails done every couple of weeks.
Since covid I've stopped that, and to be honest, I'm not keen on going back into a small salon regularly. BUT I do miss my nails always looking neat. Nail varnish chips in moments for me.
I took a look today and saw that sensationail have stopped trading in the UK. (Strangely it also came up that I can buy a Sensationail (or own brand) kit from Aldi ...but if they are no longer trading, not sure I much fancy that.
Does anyone do their nails at home and use a set that you recommend?
Thanks

Sensationail closed their UK website but when they closed it said it's still possible to get their polishes from Nailpolishdirect.co.uk

Boots also sells it.

@MuddledUpAgain I haven't been to the shops since the start of covid, but looked on boots website and they only have 2 sensationail colours, I sent my husband in and they don't stock them at all in our moat local store, so if they did stock them, they are definitely on the way out.

I have the Sensationail lamp but only use Bluesky gel polishes - think they're brilliant quality.

I have a Mylee lamp and use Blue-sky or Mylee polishes. You can get a full kit from amazon .

We have two Boots here and both have stopped selling them so sadly I believe Sensationail is no more. Which is terrible because I'm a massive fan of the Peel Off Base coat and haven't found anything nearly as good to replace it. Found a website selling it recently so bought three bottles - need to find a decent replacement - any recommendations?! I also use a Blueski polish.

Bluesky even!

I have the Mylee lamp and always use the Bluesky varnishes - they're brilliant, they last at least 3 weeks without chipping.

Thanks all. Does anyone know if Blue sky or any other makes do a one step gel like the express gel sensationail used to do? (Such a time saver!)

@Rollintodarkness
Oh that's a shame with boots. Mine had loads today-very odd. They are definitely available on nail polish direct.

If you have the lamp already, most other brands work with it. I've used blue sky, gellish and a couple of others with no issues.

Rollintodarkness · 03/08/2021 21:44

@MuddledUpAgaini don't have the lamp anymore, thibk I gave my whole stash away a good few years ago when I started having them done, so I'm looking at buying a whole new kit.

Ah fair enough. Friend of mine bought a mylee kit and absolutely loves it :)

Thanks will take a look.
Out of interest (and most likely a really silly question) but has anyone used the aldi brand lamp?

@Rollintodarkness I’m sure someone more knowledgeable - like a nail technician - can give you more info, but I understand that not using the right lamp and gel combination can result in the gel not curing properly and that can result in damage and allergic reactions. Just worth researching especially if you’re thinking of buying an Aldi lamp which will mean you’ll have to use polishes from other brands.
