SOTD is the Perfume Parlour dupe of Aromatics Elixir. I'm trying to decide if it smells the same as the pre-reformulation Clinique perfume; am still not sure - it seems to be missing a bit of richness. My mum thinks it smells like an expensive body cream - which no one would have said about the original - but I get what she means, the pp dupe does smell like a herbal spa treatment. At least it doesn't have that whiff of garam masala. It might not be a good dupe in my opinion, but I would happily wear this as a perfume in its own right.

@FragrantlyScent

That sounds like a nightmare *@Fferny1* Xmas Sad. 🤞 your power is restored soon.

I think I might love perfume parlour @SpeckledyHen - they're such good value - and quite addictive, too! Xmas Blush.

I might have to sell a bag to fund my new hobby 😀

Sotd Shazam! for lunch out today .

Had a squirt of MMM BTF in John Lewis on Friday and smelt like my sitting room when I got 🏡! Loved it.

Where are you all getting your SOTDs? Is it something you've signed up for or do you have all these different ones lying around?

I have 20 x bottles of 4160 tuesdays alone and about the same number of samples 🤣🤣🤣

me4real · 28/11/2021 20:34

@Judystilldreamsofhorses lol.

@Opal8 Are the samples from House of Frazer or whatever as someone mentioned upthread? How expensive are they?

MissBattleaxe · 28/11/2021 20:51

@me4real I have about 85 bottles. I've been a perfume blogger for nearly 9 years and I get sent a lot of stuff. I have hundreds and hundreds of samples. I don't buy very many and save anything spendy for my Christmas or birthday.

MissBattleaxe · 28/11/2021 20:53

Also you can buy 4160 Tuesdays samples from their website. I think a set of 7 is £25. At the moment they've got a 3 for 2 offer on bottles. Just order any 2 bottles as usual and add the 3rd bottle on the notes at checkout.

Fferny1 · 28/11/2021 21:37

I have 53 bottles plus lots of decants & samples. I do try & buy in the smallest sizes possible. The only perfumes I've ever finished have been Jo Malone Nutmeg & ginger, Cristalle, annick goutal le chevrefeuille & Van cleef & Arpel's California reverie. Plus several bottles of Calyx & Annick Goutal many moons ago.
I've always loved perfume...

Sotd is Masque Milano l'attesa.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 28/11/2021 22:30

I have about 40 full bottles and a biscuit tin if samples. I do repeat buy though, I have gone through numerous bottles of Chanel 19, MH L’Air de Rien, and Philosykos and Eau Duelle by Diptyque.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 28/11/2021 22:31

Also on my third bottle of Mitsouko actually.

FragrantlyScent · 28/11/2021 22:44

Your Xmas tree looks wonderful @Opal8! 🎄Xmas Smile. I love looking at Christmas trees/lights/decorations; ours will probably go up the middle of this week, or towards the weekend.

I'm so excited that it's the start of advent Xmas Blush, I simply adore Christmas time - in fact I definitely enjoy the preparation and time before Christmas every bit as much as the day itself. There are some mince pies and a fruit cake (not actual Xmas cake, though) in the oven, so the house smells very festive. Xmas Smile Pjs here too, but no snow unfortunately, just beautifully crisp and cold. ❄️

FragrantlyScent · 28/11/2021 22:48

I've never counted the number of perfumes I own; I'd be a bit scared to find out how many I have on my shelves. 🙈 I've come to view my perfume habit as a hobby, and quite enjoy having a large collection as I dislike wearing the same scent more than two days in a row. Choosing what to wear each day brings me great joy; I try to match my scent to the occasion/weather/what I'll be doing or where I'm going. I, too, have learnt over the years to buy smaller sizes, as I so very rarely finish full bottles, this saves money and means I'm able to try more samples than I would otherwise. Aslo, if a favourite scent is finishing, I do tend to wait until Christmas/birthdays and ask for a bottle as a present. 🎁 Xmas Smile

FragrantlyScent · 28/11/2021 23:30

SOTN is Arabie - I may as well smell just as festive as the house does currently. Xmas Grin

Hmm... My repeat purchases are probably Obsession, Youth Dew, Cinnabar, Opium, the old Aromatics Elixir, Mitsouko, Shalimar... I clearly don't have the wide and varied tastes I thought I did. 🤣

Thank you 🎄

Samples can be purchased from places like bloom and les senteurs pretty cheaply. Ebay can also be good for samples.

Recently I've bought bottles of shazam!, Captured By Candlelight and midnight in the Palace garden from 4160 tuesdays

I've also bought a few vintage avons lately too...moonwind, charisma...

Sotd 4160 tuesdays Shazam!

SotD L'Extase Rose Absolue. Rich dark vanillary rose for people who don't usually like sweet perfumes. First cousin to Si Le Parfum and Rosa Ribes? Turns up in TK Maxx all the time and is beautiful.
