Hello perfume experts
Please can I ask your advice? (I'm a lurker, not a perfumista...)

Looking for some perfume for DD age 17.5 for Christmas. She isn't a girlie girl - not really into much make up - very sporty but not a tomboy (realise that's a very dated word and probably not politically correct but don't know how else to describe)

Any idea what older teenagers like that isn't hideously sweet? She has some Daisy, she thinks it's ok but doesn't love it. Otherwise only has a couple of body sprays which smell a bit summery/beachy

Any advice much appreciated, looking for something classy, restrained but not too grown up. Thanks

@amazonianwoman Welcome! 💐 Has she asked for perfume? If not don't get anything too spendy. If she's not massively girly then I suggest Tommy Girl, Davidoff Cool Water For Women (nice fresh, marine scent) or something along the lines of CK One which is unisex and shower fresh/inoffensive but good.

@amazonianwoman I bought some Poison Girl once, I liked the advertising which was kind of edgy grunge.

It smells ridiculously sweet when you first put it on, but after a few mins goes to musky and powdery.

It's not my fave but thought it might be an option.

I'm not 17 BTW though lol, I just was having a bit of a midlife crisis at the time.

Hello @amazonianwoman 👋, I'd second both Opal's and MissB's recommendations, and suggest adding Estée Lauder Sensuous to your list of fragrance candidates. It was the first thing that came to mind based on your description of classy but still youthful.

It's 30 days til Christmas! So, SOTD is Cinnabar - one of my absolute favourites, but a perfume I only use around the festive season. Am currently wafting around in a beautiful cloud of orange, spice, resin and a touch of incense. 🎄

Other ideas for perfume: narcisco rodrigez for her (white cube bottle) or even the poudree version (nude pink cube bottle)
Atm they are £35 per 30ml on lookfantastic :)

I love Cinnabar so much @Opal8, but the combination of orange, clove, cinnamon and incense notes reminds me so strongly of Christmas that I can't wear it any other time of year, even though I'd love to. I've tried, and it just feels wrong - it simply smells of Xmas. But because of this, it does make it feel extra special when Christmas time rolls around and I can bring out my bottle, spritz away and feel all festive inside. 🎄

DD also likes Hermes Pamplemousse Rose. But she nicks that from me. She really dislikes anything too sweet, strong & cloying. She's just not into modern designer perfumes at all.
