It needs to be warm and definitely have a proper hood, not one of those popper ones! Not black, or orange etc, more dark green, or navy. It will be used for dog walking, and for school drop off, so needs to be properly waterproof. We live very rurally so doesn't need to be trendy, just practical 😉 . Oh, and I don't want to spend very much, was hoping the sales would be my friend! Tia 😊

Try on Cotswold Outdoor website

I'm not sure if it's that easy to get warmth + 100% waterproof.

North Face have 3 in 1s, but they basically have a fleece insert that ziips out, and are pricey.

I ended up getting DH a Patagonia Torrentshell 3L which has no warmth, but is 100% waterproof with a great hood. And a lot cheaper than the NF one. He then puts fleeces inside in the winter. I figured a proper breathable rain jacket was more versatile all year round as we have very rainy but muggy Springs and Autumns. Whereas our down coats only get pulled out November to January and stay in the wardrobe the rest of the time.

He has used it to bits, goes hiking in it and everything.

Pretty sure I got it at sale price as its a brand stocked in a lot of sites.

Haven't looked lately, but DH got one from Decathlon, he spends a lot of time traipsing round farms and agri businesses, so didn't want to spend much, as things get wrecked. His is navy, although does have an orange hood as visibility is no bad thing round farms.
Regatta is normally reasonably priced too, although not the trendiest.

Look at the Lands End Squall Parka. Not lovely or fashionable (or cheap) but mine has kept me warm and dry through years of pre-dawn winter dog walks. They wear like iron and wash very well, although they take ages to dry because you have to turn them to dry the insides. They do a longer version too, here.
