I am going to a wedding in August and need to dress up for the first time in ages, and I have forgotten how to do it. To be honest, I've avoided it for a long time because I felt rubbish about how I looked but I've decided that life is too short so I'm going to go. Ideally, I want to wear the same outfit for another function in September as well.
I'm fat and nearly fifty, and very self conscious, so I like to blend in rather than stand out. Having said that, for cultural reasons, the outfit needs to be very fancy - I definitely don't want to appear underdressed and I know that most of the women will be very dressed up.
I'm a size 18 and quite short (about 5'4). Don't like anything really revealing or anything too flamboyant. Classic styles are good. Nothing too short as I have stumpy legs and I'm ashamed of my flabby arms so they can't be on show.
I can wear most colours, I think.
Please help. I have never known how to make myself look good, but I really want to feel good on these occasions.
