I've a wedding to attend in September. I've attached my dress - lovely fit, navy in colour with a bit of lace.

But.

September. It's going to rain. Or be freezing. Or be boiling hot. Or snow. Who knows.

I bought a cape from Boohoo but in true Boohoo style it's made of stretchy tacky muddy material and looks shite. I do like the idea of a cape but not a shrug/cardigan/boxy jacket/pashmina etc - something modern please!

For info I'm 36, size 12/14, leggy, tall and like to think I'm still a bit trendy - like classic lines and shapes, no embellishments or frou frou.

Please help O wise MNetters 💕

What about a wedding pashmina style shawl, you can wear it if it’s chilly and drape it over your bag if it’s a scorcher

Onlinedilema · 01/08/2021 08:48

I was going to say the same as 2me2you Is the reception indoors? If so you won't be cold.

savemejebus · 01/08/2021 09:10

Thanks for suggestions - Has anyone got any links/pics of a pashmina style shawl? I worry I'll end up looking old fashioned.
Reception is indoors so tbf probably won't need anything but I'd like to have something on hand for later in the night

The OP literally said not a pashmina in here OP! Grin

I have a light cream jacket which is knee length and perfect for things like this, it’s sort of drapey and swoopy, I’ll see if I can find a link

Shirleyphallus · 01/08/2021 09:13

Ps, do not wear a pashmina or a bolero or anything which screams 2004

savemejebus · 01/08/2021 09:28

@Shirleyphallus 😂 I did but I'm desperate now!
Yes! That's exactly what I'm trying to avoid, an early noughties throwback. I do like the idea of a cape but can I find a decent one.....

Don’t bother
You will either be carrying it , or feeling old fashioned in it ,, you are inside and presumable will get taxi home ?
Style it out girl

Onlinedilema · 01/08/2021 12:47

Yes if you are inside you will be fine. It’s not a church. The only time you might be outside is for a few photos. If you don’t like the suggestions just wear the dress on its own.

goose1964 · 01/08/2021 14:24

Both eBay and Etsy have loads of capes

5togo · 01/08/2021 14:27

That would look good with an oversized blazer.

TigsytheTiger · 01/08/2021 17:26

Was just going oversized blazer and worn over shoulders rather than with arms in the sleeves.
