Anyone buy things from the little boutique shops you get on the high street?

Currently on holiday and the town we are visiting today has lots of little independent boutiquey type shops. Some of the clothes are lovely but more than I would normally spend. I like the fact that the clothes are more individual and not from a row of hundreds all the same.
It would be a bit of a treat if I bought something and not sure what the quality would be like. Don’t recognise any of the makes. They are not all allowing trying on either so would be a bit of a gamble.

Anyone else buy things from these shops?

I do, we are going on holiday next week to somewhere that has a lot of small shops, I love buying something that’s individual and am happy paying a bit more for it. I also buy a lot from Etsy too as there’s lots of handmade quirky clothing on there.

Yes. Surely you can tell the quality by looking at it? See if the seams are finished well etc. Then yes, buy - you will be supporting an independent shop and maybe an individual maker.

Yes, I do too.

ZaraW · 31/07/2021 16:10

Yes, I always do. As mentioned by pp you are supporting a small business.

There is one in my village.
If she gets something in she thinks I will really love I get a text
There is also a 2nd hand designer shop where I take stuff I don’t want, when she sells them I get credit and then I can buy something I really want. That reminds me, she owes me £150 so I need to pop in and see what she has

You can find lot of the items in these boutique type shops on Ali Express. That's where they all get them from.

They all seem to sell the same type of things but make them look more individual by only buying in a few of each item.

I buy lots from independent boutiques although not generally clothes but that's because I mull over clothes more.

I'm not sure about that

Yes all the time.

Some shops will stock local designers so can be very individual hence the price plus the material is usually good quality.

Buy it if you like it because you'll get a lot of wear out of it and it'll remind you of your trip too.

I do if I see something I like. But often they are a bit frumpy. I got a fabulous cardigan from a little shop in the next village recently though; good quality and on trend.

A couple of local ones to me travel and buy ftom markets etc out of the area. If you're happy with the price and the quality, buy it!
