So, I've got my new wide leg jeans

And I love them, this style suits me so much better, as I have a narrow waist and chunky thighs, but wow I'm having trouble finding anything to do with them. I generally live in Stan Smiths and I think they're OK? What about boots whe we get to autumn, I don't think my chunky biker boots are working.

And tops, does it need to be something you can tuck in. I haven't worn tops tucked in since I left school and it looks all wrong, but maybe because I spent so long rebelling against it and haven't done it for so long? My hip length tshirts and tops aren't working. Or do I just need to get used to the different look?

I would say tight fitted tops with wide leg anything. You don't want a wide top and bottom.

Tops can also be boxy and untucked as long as they're short enough

TooMinty · 29/07/2021 08:04

Which jeans did you get? I love wide leg trousers but I am petite so struggling to find any...

Hallomother · 29/07/2021 08:06

I’m interested in this too - I’m
Pear shaped so think they might suit but no idea what footwear to put them with

Bryonyshcmyony · 29/07/2021 08:07

I wear mine in the spring with a navy crew neck jumper and white t and Stan smiths. I have the grand total of one t shirt which looks OK with them in the summer. It's quite hard to get proportions right

Bryonyshcmyony · 29/07/2021 08:07

And I've worn birkenstocks with mine and they've looked fine

Binglebong · 29/07/2021 08:17

Ooh where did you get them?

Blankscreen · 29/07/2021 08:23

I got some in whistles.

I would say defo tuck in or a shorter boxy tshisrt.

So far only worn mine with Birkenstock style shoes

Seen people in the winter wear them with hiking boots.

I need to get planning!

Also interested to find out which jeans you got please OP.

Are Stan Smiths white trainers? Would full-length wide-leg jeans look okay with white trainers or do they need to be cropped to get away with that?

MakeCrisps · 29/07/2021 08:24

@Binglebong

Ooh where did you get them?
M&S style icon that I am Grin

Actually I've just been back and looked at the website and they don't work with the tops they've put them with either.

Tucking tops and shirts in at the front creates a nice line and works for most styles of tops.
Agree with other posters, Birkenstock’s in summer or plimsolls. I avoid wide leg trousers in winter, they can really soak up the rain (leaving you with soggy legs at work Sad) and strong winds turn them into sails!

Tight tops with wide legs or flares, or a fitted but not tight top/blouse tucked in and maybe belted.
I've always hated skinny jeans, they just don't suit me. Nice to be finally in style again!
