Plus size work clothes and style tips

Facing the prospect of going back to the office part time soon and really need to emerge from my comfy clothes and upgrade my wardrobe. I had a baby and comfort ate my way through lockdown so now I’m trying to figure out how to dress my 5 ft 7 size 18-20 body. My weight has went on fairly evenly with the exception of my tummy which is larger in comparison to the rest of me.

Where do fellow plus size women get your work clothes? I don’t mind paying for better quality but will only pay to dry clean blazers. Pre baby/lockdown I liked to dress smart casual. If I was wearing jeans I’d dress up with a shirt/blouse and heals. If I’m wearing a blazer and suit trousers I’d dress it down with a tee shirt and nice trainers.

My tummy is also making me wonder if trousers are no longer for me and I need to explore dresses. Atm I’m wearing postpartum skinny jeans with the stretchy band but find them so uncomfortable.

Depending on your work I guess will depend on whether you can get away with nice comfy stretchy trousers and tops or long dresses with a jacket etc
I use yours clothing a lot online - I’m sure in their menu they have smart/casual ideas and they’re pretty good quality too x

Basics I tend to buy from M&S or next. Simple black trousers or skirts and blouses.
Even Matalan has some nice bits occasionally.

I wear this kind of thing:

tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/p/Monochrome-Print-Woven-Pleat-Front-Top/139578202-MultiColoured?searchTerm=:newArrivals&searchProduct=

I have about 12 tops, all different. They are non iron, very flattering and look good under a jacket.

I've found M&S one of the most useful sites for a range of decent quality pieces in many sizes.

If you can get to one of their large stores, there are some useful workwear staples (eg nice but reasonably priced blazers)

I would also say that it would be an easy solution to make use of the current dress trend, if you are carrying more weight than usual. There is a style for everyone and every budget, and many are great at hiding tummies (I say this as someone basically your exact same dimensions!) Wear with loafers/pointed flats and blazer for the office?

Well I am size 20 at the moment, 5ft 4ins. I used to get stuff from Debenhams, sadly no longer with us! I have bought jackets and trousers from M&S and Next, tops from loads of different places. I no longer need to wear suits (hurrah!) but at least try and be smart looking!

I wear mainly black stretchy trousers or leggings with a tunic or long t shirt.
