Skin care for dummies

So far I have been fairly lucky in that I don't particularly look my age and as I have a pretty oily forehead I don't really have any wrinkles. But I'm 43 and I do feel that my skin is looking quite dull.

Current skin care regime is to wash my face in the shower with shower gel and then chuck on which ever moisturiser I happen to have handy. I think I'm currently using a nip and fab retinol one.

Of a morning, wash face as above and then use Simple light moisturiser with spf and that's it.

So, oily forehead, and cheeks and chin vary between a bit oily or a bit dry.

I do like a good face exfoliate and usually use the nip and fab one a few times a week.

I've read lots of the skin care threads on here but just end up confused. I don't want to be using a million things a day. There things each morning no night would be great.

Skin is definitely dehydrated so I am trying to drink more water.

Budget is low to mid range unless it is something that will make me look 25 Wink

You wash your face with shower gel??!! Confused

Buy the book- SKIN - by Caroline Hirons. Best thing I did.

If you can’t be bothered with that then I -

Double cleanse. Clean cloth every time. Bulk ordered from Amazon

Cetaphil cleanser - non foaming - foam
Is bad (drying).

I then use Paula’s choice BHA exfoliant.

Then moisturise. Not had a spot or dry patch since starting this in January.

Before then I was a lost cause age 30!

Cleanse and tone, then apply a face serum and eye cream. Boots and Superdrug own brands are great if you're on a budget. Apply moisturiser on top. Morning and evening x

Forgot to add OP, my friend is 51 this year, and, all she has ever used is Astral Cream, Nivea Creme in dark blue tin!/tub, and, most recently Lacura Caviar Cream from Aldi (£6.99) and, her skin is AMAZING! I think it's the regularity, applying it every morning and every night x

After cleansing I try to always apply:

Vitamin C
Hylaronic Acid
Moisturiser
SPF (in morning)

I use retinol serum and moisturiser at night.

More than 3 I know bit you could pick 3!

Evening
Cleansing balm to remove make up and Spf, do it twice
Exfoliate with Paula's Choice BHA 3 times per week
Retinol 3 times per week
Moisture

Morning
Face wash if you want (I don't)
Vitamin C
Spf 50
