Outfit for casual drinks - plus size

Twilow · 25/07/2021 10:20

Can anyone give me ideas of what to wear for drinks/possibly dinner with DH and a couple of friends? Or even shops/what to google for ideas

Size 20
5ft 10
Big boobs
No bum
Don't like wearing high heels
Reddish skin tone, brown hair, blue eyes

Any ideas appreciated. Usually I wear jeans and a top but just feel so boring lately and would like to make an effort.

Maxi dress?

I am not plus size but I find them very flattering.

Long dress. Little bolero cardigan. Smart sandals?

I'll have a look at some dresses what is your budget?

Twilow · 25/07/2021 13:39

Thank you! Budget maybe up to £100 for the main item eg a dress? And accessories etc on top of that.

Fat Face gets bad comments on here as an old person's shop but I love it. I wear their maxi dresses and they cater for size 6 up to size 22.

This one for starters? If you don't like the pattern colour/ what sort do you like? Do you prefer pale / blues / pinks etc

I think a maxi dress with a denim jacket and either sandals or white plimsolls. Lots of options at Next and Marks and Spencer.

CrouchEndTiger12 · 25/07/2021 13:45

If you like a dress with sleeves?

Ooh yes. I love that style. It gets a lot of hate on here but I like it.
Eleoura · 25/07/2021 13:47

I have big boobs and always wear a V neck. Its more flattering on the boobs. I also like a 3/4 sleeve to thin out the upper arms.

Do you like loose, cullotes? Or pedal pushers?

What about low wedges rather than heels?

NautaOcts · 25/07/2021 13:49

Yes maxi dress
I’m a bit jealous as sound like to wear them but am a size 16-18 and short so they never seem to work on me

ABet08x · 25/07/2021 13:49

I’m also a size 20 and 5ft10 and swear by midi dresses with wedges or platform sandals.

Simplybe have some gorgeous dresses in at the moment which are not too expensive but very flattering.

Cluelessgardener · 25/07/2021 13:59

What about a midi skirt, trainers/pumps and a nice top? I'm similar sizes to you and I live in this at the mo. (and some anti chaffing shorts)

Divebar2021 · 25/07/2021 14:06

Monki seem to have expanded their size range and have a number of maxi and midi wrap dresses which are flattering across the boobs. I like the arm coverage too. I also think a jersey dress is versatile and can be worn with a variety of jackets as it gets cooler… you could look beyond denim jackets to chore jackets or a blazer if it was the right cut.

Just realised that the previous M & S dress is not available in your size
What about this one?

I’m in love with a paisley maxi dress from Karen Milen curve range….unfortunately I am generally too short for most maxi dresses and have nowhere to wear a £90 one. But it sounds like it might be right for you.

Twilow · 25/07/2021 15:39

Thank you so much for all the ideas! That's fab.

I really like the idea of a maxi dress, would need something with sleeves, or do people just wear the cover up over it all night?? I imagine we'd be out from maybe 7ish for quite a few hours.

I really like the next animal print one in the bright colours, think that's the favourite so far!

I’ve only recently discovered them and have turned into a big fan. Just trying to find myself again after 2 years wading though the newborn fog and I love the aesthetic. Hugely impractical for my everyday lifestyle of buggy pushing but I still adore it.

Twilow · 25/07/2021 16:00

Yes, actually going out is very unusual for me hence why have nothing to wear Grin Beautiful clothes!
