Some suggestions of classic, timeless basic pieces?

So... have come to the conclusion that this is what I need: some classic, timeless basic pieces. So could do particularly with links to particular items - suggestions of shops are grand but I then can’t decide on the specifics! Would really like to avoid polyester if possible and am looking for things that won’t date. Thanks!

Please could you say how much you're happy to spend?

And wouldn't the recommendations be a bit random if we don't know whether you're a 4'9 new mother of triplets or a 6'1 orchestra conductor? A few clues might focus things.

Oh - environmental impact?

Anyway - Raey at Matches Fashion. Or Community Clothing. Both perfect in their own ways.

(Sorry, you mentioned polyester - so that's covered!)

Some of my essential wardrobe pieces are:

Black skinny jeans
Denim skinny jeans
Camel fine knitted sweater
Longline vests for layering
Breton tops
Summer dress
Denim shorts
Wax jacket, Denim jacket
Warm, lined zip through
Converse (although currently don't own any)
Leather ankle boots (flat, tan)

I'm missing quite a few key items needed for work and lifestyle

@Edmontine, thanks - good points!

So... I’m 5ft 3, size 6-8. Mother to young child, work as a lecturer. Hope that helps narrow focus a little - happy to answer any more questions!

Ah - rich, clever and thin - the wardrobe world is your oyster! Grin

Sounds like Community Clothing would be an excellent and ethical choice for informal basics.

And to switch things up - how about a thing or two from La Double J? I've linked a silk shirt that comes in an ever changing variety of prints. Also in cotton but silk is what they do best. This particular shirt is as close to timeless as things get - in that they sell it all the time.

Old Town might also fit your brief. Definitely classic and timeless, also cool and hipster with good, contemporary production values. (As far as I can see, anyway.)

I think in your place I'd be very happy to restart a wardrobe based on these three sources, and build from there.

Oh, and spending-wise - looking to spend up to £100 per item, but would spend more for the right coat, etc, and would be happier to spend less on smaller items, such as a vest or t-shirt.
