Hi there I'm trying to find a dress for my hen do. This is the best so far but I'm not sure.

Ooh exciting! What will you be doing?

The halter top really suits you and the general shape is great too. I’m not a fan of the skirt though, it lets it down IMO.

What sort of budget are you working with?

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 24/07/2021 18:01

Thank you. Yes there's something about the skirt that's bothering me too. It seems a lot of dresses are like that whereas I feel like getting the scissors to it Grin. We're having a meal and drinks so pretty relaxed really.

Any budget at the moment! Getting a bit fed up.

Is this too bright? Shopping is so damned frustrating

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 24/07/2021 18:18

That's nice but I wanted a shorter length. I know- if I was rich I'd just employ someone to make stuff for me Grin

@OwlBasket thanks though.

that's a lovely dress OP 🌸

OwlBasket · 24/07/2021 18:39

probably still too long Hopefully more people will be along shortly Wink

Flutteringwings · 24/07/2021 18:45

I think that dress looks great, OP.

I'd experiment with a belt to pull it together - either a black belt with a statement buckle (such as the circle ones) or a silver diamanté belt. I think it'll elevate the dress into something special.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 24/07/2021 18:46

That's nice as well. Thank you. I do appreciate it honestly. I even went round selfridges earlier but I just think that length makes my legs look stubby.

@Flutteringwings that's a good idea

Stick a belt and heels on and re-photograph it. I'm in the 'something weird about the skirt' camp but shoes and more of a waist might fix that.

OwlBasket · 24/07/2021 19:28

more like it?
There are so few short halter neck dresses about. Are you sure you need to keep looking? The dress you have really does look good.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 29/07/2021 20:45

Hello- sorry I didn't come back. I ordered some belts and shoes and they've not come yet but in the meantime this arrived that I ordered a few weeks ago. I think this one is a winner Smile

The second one isn’t so nice as the first

And nothing good can come of buying a diamonte belt Wink

Have you looked on silk Fred / dancing leopard? They have some really beautiful floral wrap dresses that you might like

picklemewalnuts · 29/07/2021 22:20

I think I like the new one. Better fit at the waist- no gathers, at a guess.

SomethingToldTheWildGeese · 29/07/2021 22:24

Aw, I love the new(2nd!) dress Op!! It's perfect for a hen - a little fun, a little flirty and nice and dressy - and it really suits you!

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 29/07/2021 22:25

Second dress is better for a hen do imo

ZenNudist · 29/07/2021 22:39

I prefer the second but think you suit the first too. The second. Go with the second!

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 29/07/2021 22:41

Aww thank you. I prefer the 2nd for the same reasons that you all said. I just feel better in it. And agree although the first in nice the second is more fun and night out style.
Excuse the messy bedroom floor btw 🙈

Love the cut and shape of the 2nd one, though I thought the colours in number 1 really suited your colouring!

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 30/07/2021 09:42

Thank you. Yes that's true. I think the colours on 2 are nice as well. I don't know whether to keep number 1 anyway for another time? They weren't expensive dresses- about £40.
