‘Interesting’, well cut basics?

Always drawn to statement pieces and patterns, but need to find some good quality (but not really expensive) basic pieces in plain colours. Any ideas, lovely people? Particularly tops - for example, I’ve noticed a few tees with a tie-waist which I think look lovely and flattering. And, fit-wise, would like close fitting but not skin tight, so the material drapes a little... TIA.

Meemlabel had some lovely interesting tops but they're not cheap

Cos

Following as I'm after the same but I need colours. The Meem ones suggested above are gorgeous but all in dark/drab shades that wash me out.

I have no suggestions, I’m just place marketing

Iris & Ink at the outnet sometimes have interesting basics - they've definitely had tie waist t-shirts in the past. Also yes to Cos, maybe Arket, some brands at Wolf & Badger (the mention of Meem Label made me think of this).
Also yesterday I saw a nice v-neck ruched t-shirt at Whistles.

Thanks so much for the suggestions so far - some great ideas of where to look that I hadn’t thought of! 😊

Cos. Great quality and cut

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 22/07/2021 13:30

I’ve never seen Me before. I love the styles, but everything is sludge coloured. At least Cos do colour.

fiorentina · 22/07/2021 14:53

Cos or Arket. Kin at John Lewis is good for this too.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 22/07/2021 14:57

Kin is a bit too fond of viscose with mean little hems.

I really Bajuken for fit and comfort. They are an ethical company too. Not the cheapest but there is a sale on at the moment and their tops are great.

VerbenaGirl · 23/07/2021 22:50

REW have some great pieces.

I like this company rapanuiclothing.com/product/relaxed-fit-t-shirt/

I have a few of their T-shirt’s, the leggings, knickers and raincoat. All great quality.

@Juancornetto

Thanks for linking Meem - those clothes are so up my street!

Damsel · 24/07/2021 07:50

@Juancornetto Thank you for the Meem recommendation. Never heard of this brand before & love their stuff.

NeedWineNow · 24/07/2021 08:22

@Juancornetto thanks for the Meem link. Not a company I know but love some of the dresses.

I just bought a t-shirt from Muji, it's slightly cropped with wide sleeves. Great basic but a notch dressier than a basic tee.

Also got 2 t-shirts from the Jigsaw sale, one v-neck, one crew neck. Really lovely and slightly heavier material so I think I can get away with wearing them to work. They also had a nice black haired top which I was eyeing.
