She's 11. Last day of school yesteday we had an amazing day. Before she got in the shower she got my tweezers and took the end of her eye brow off. I can tell because there's a white patch where she hasn't tanned.
I've just noticed and she lied initially and now knows I'm v cross with her.

My eyebrows are destroyed by over plucking in my teens.

I'm scared of what she will do though she's been told the tweezers will not be out anymore.

Please give me some guidance how best to deal with this.

@greatestdancer

I’m sure they will grow back. Was she trying to make a slit in it? I know that’s popular now
I'm really not sure. It's the last 5th maybe and the tapered end nearest her head hairline. She may have done the other one too but she won't let me within scrutinising distance now 😂

Me, my 12 year old ds shaved his arm hair off the other day. Just one arm though. They fo weird shit at that age. Sure it will grow back.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 21/07/2021 22:51

If you have to get up close to see if she's done the other one, it can't be that bad

TheVanguardSix · 21/07/2021 22:51

Solidarity fist bump. DD11 has done exactly the same thing. Hmm

todaysdilemma · 21/07/2021 22:54

My mum overplucked her eyebrows once as a teen and they never grew back. And it was the bane of her life that she had to spend 10 mins everyday drawing them in for work. She never let me near tweezers and warned me off doing them myself. Instead she'd take me to a lady to get them threaded or tweeze them for me herself. Maybe offer to do that?

Btw I thought my mum's paranoia was nuts when younger but now as an adult, dear god I'm happy she was as weird about it as she was. Because my eyebrows are fantastically full unlike most of my peers who overplucked, and like mum spend ages each day dealing with them. I actually thanked her recently, am mid 30s, for protecting me from myself. So well done you! She'll appreciate it in her 20s.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/07/2021 22:57

She's 11, everyone has a go with their mums tweezers including my ds.

They'll grow back, it's no biggie.

HandforthParishCouncilClerk · 21/07/2021 22:58

For everyone on here who overplucked in the 90s - I did too. And have had NO EYEBROWS since, until this year when I discovered rapidbrow.
Holy shit, I now have brows like Bert and Ernie - it’s bloody amazing stuff, get some immediately!

Thank you this made me feel much better. My mum did nothing to protect me from myself and I promise myself I won't be like that with my dds.

I'm in about week 5 of rapid brow. It's doing something but I'm not overwhelmed.

It’ll grow back, repeated plucking causes hair not to (sometimes).

HandforthParishCouncilClerk · 21/07/2021 23:09

It takes weeks and weeks - think mine took about 3 months - but it’s worth persevering. Get some eyelure dyebrow too and tint them - it makes an amazing an difference

MoltonSilver · 21/07/2021 23:12

They'll grow back. It's only after repeated plucking over a period of time that they stop growing back.

You do need to chill. You're putting your eyebrow issues on to her. She will make her own mistakes one way or another. We all do.

Oh wow this is what I need Grin I plucked them almost all out and not repeatedly either. I’m getting on this.
HandforthParishCouncilClerk · 21/07/2021 23:18

Ok, here’s my before and after - 3 months of rapid brow and a DIY brow tint using eyelure dyebrow.

The dyebrow stuff is fab - they sell it in boots and Superdrug and on Amazon for about a fiver - it comes in black and dark brown but if you’re fairer, you get dark brown and just leave it on for slightly less time. It’s so easy - you get a little tube and a little bottle and a mascara wand, and just mix a bit of the paste in the tube with a few drops from the bottle, slap it on your brows with the mascara wand, leave it 5 mins then wipe off with wet cotton wool - it lasts about a month and one dye kit will do about 6 applications.

Dd1 has taken chunks out of her eyebrow please reassure me

I wish someone had saved me from myself during the Great Pluck of '97. Brows never recovered, so thin and awful.

@nevernotstruggling ah I sounded harsh- sorry. It's just I know now exactly what I wish my mum had done.

I don't agree with comments about leaving her to it, giving her the message that your bothered about her looks. It's because you know she will regret it later on- like you did, and I did! She's 11- it's not like anyone would say 'it's her body- let her get a tattoo!' at that age is it. And frankly I regret messing up my eyebrows more than some of my dodgy tatts 😂

I think go softly and kindly, help her grow them back and let her know you will help or take her to get them done professionally afterwards, if that's what she would like. Whilst letting her know that equally she doesn't have to do anything with them at all if she doesn't want to.

StarCandle · 21/07/2021 23:51

Guide her in the right way of doing things rather than being angry over the wrong way of doing things. So much more helpful in the long run.
