JLo skincare range

I was quite excited to read about this - don't know how late I am to the party as this may have been around ages! I love J-Lo and think her skin is absolutely perfect, although I appreciate this is probably more down to genes and diet. Has anyone tried her range? It's a bit expensive for me but I might treat myself to the serum if it has good reviews! Any thoughts?

Jennifer Lopez is 50 plus and claims to have used nothing more than olive oil on her skin- no botox, fillers or other treatments. The overall feeling I get from what I've seen on SM etc is that people find this claim disingenuous at best, and it puts them off her brand.

Kjr33 · 21/07/2021 11:24

It’s all quite oil based isn’t it (hence her olive oil claim) it wouldn’t work for my skin but each to their own.
I think she looks gorgeous and if she says she has not had Botox or whatever I think she should be believed.

WindFlower92 · 21/07/2021 11:35

Not a clue if she's telling the truth or not, but her mum looks great so I can believe she is lucky, even if botox has given her a lift! I just want to be her Grin

If she is being truthful (and I'm making no comment on that, I wouldn't know or care) then why not try just using olive oil since that's her secret?
I haven't looked into the range but I think I saw a comment somewhere that it is really expensive, so I wouldn't buy it just for that reason alone. The ingredients that make a real, proven difference are SPF and tretinoin, both of which are cheap. I enjoy nice makeup and spend more than I should on that, but my skincare is all 100% utility no frills! Grin If you think you'll enjoy the JLo products then give them a try. As the PP said, if they are very oil based that wouldn't suit me personally as I have oily skin.

Every celeb and their dog seems to have a skincare line at the moment.

From what I can see J-Lo's stuff is crazily overpriced. A single olive oil sheet mask for £20. Errrr, nope.

Uptoongirl · 21/07/2021 13:01

I saw someone reviewing her products and they broke out quite badly - they did say they were sensitive to oil BUT the amount they broke out was scary.

J-lo looks amazing but it's not like these products are the reason...even if she was using these products early in the manufacturing process they have only been in existence for a couple of years and 5 years ago she looked amazing, 10 years ago she looked amazing IYKWIM so it's her rather than the product.

From what I've read about her she is very disciplined in terms of diet, exercise and skin care so I would say it's that overall dedication that makes her look good.

I am loving the return of Benifer though!

WindFlower92 · 21/07/2021 13:50

True @Uptoongirl, I'd rather use what she's been using, rather than what she's just created!

She looks great, no doubt. Still very beautiful. But the photos we see are usually pretty filtered. She looks her age (nothing wrong with that!) in more candid shots.

WindFlower92 · 21/07/2021 14:07

Looking my age is what I'm aiming for as I get older, I don't necessarily want to stay looking 29 forever! Although if I could then sure Wink I might give the serum a try for my birthday and let you all know if it was a complete waste of money Grin I also want to try this infamous Clarins Double serum first!

The moisturiser is mainly water, glycerin and squalane. Olive oil is 6/7th on the ingredients list.

Yes! This is what she actually looks like close up. Still beautiful but she does look like a (fillered & botoxed) woman in her middling years.

We never get to see proper skin texture these days! It's a shock when we do!

Even 19 year old YouTubers use ring lights and filters.

WindFlower92 · 21/07/2021 21:43

Ah please don't ruin the illusion! Okay, I'll save the money for botox!
