Skirt/top combo help please

It's another wedding guest plea for help. Evening guest this Saturday (short notice because Covid...), probably outdoors with dancing, not overly formal. I'm 5'6, size 16, big boobs and tum, bit squidgy all over. Dresses are challenging - I have two that will do in an emergency but aren't very flattering. So I'm hoping to find a midi / midaxi length skirt with a top that covers my tum loosely. I like this style of skirt - Phase Eight but struggling to find a smart enough top. Preferably blue spectrum, as I have the shoes and bag to match, but I like the red skirt too. Not keen on pastels, I suit deeper colours like navy, red or emerald green better. Price range would be preferable under £100 for both and I'm in a city so can get to most shops. I'd be grateful for any suggestions, I've forgotten how to dress....

Go for a plain navy top. You could go for a thin knitted one or a smart t-shirt from somewhere like Baukjen or Me&Em.

Skirt is really nice.

Other things to try might be Mint Velvet or Jigsaw, John Lewis, good old M&S etc

Try to get the same shade of navy.

You could go for an ivory top and a navy accessory like a necklace or scarf

I have this skirt from Dancing Leopard and it's so flattering, flat front elasticated back, bias cut so skims over everything. Perhaps with a silk shell top?

A shell top like this...top is £60, skirt is £30 so comes within budget

StCharlotte - thank you, I'd forgotten about Boden! That's the kind of smart but plain top I've been looking for but unfortunately it's not available in my size. It's the tops that I've struggled with, the majority are patterned or too casual.

Rina66 - after I posted I raided my wardrobe and found a similar style of skirt although green but at least it fits! I've now ordered a plain linen top from Monsoon which hopefully matches. I love that blue top though

Iloveshula - thank you. There's a perfect draped navy top from Baukjen, it would suit me and the skirt so well but I don't think it'll arrive in time (I love Baukjen things but my orders have been slow).

I have another wedding to got to next year - at least I have more notice for that one!

I'm the same size and height as you OP, with large boobs. With my boobs, I always choose a V neck blouse as its very slimming. Also 3/4 sleeves to slim the upper arms. Glad you found something though.
