SO MANY NEW COSMETIC BRANDS - what's worth trying? Completely lost.help!

I was in a big Boots recently and completely bamboozled by all the new names on the High St.

If I wanted to move away from my tried and tested brands, I'd not have a clue.

I grew up with Miners, Outdoor Girl and Rimmel, or Mary Quant if I was flush.

I graduated to Clinique & Revlon, then Bobbi Brown, Lancome and Dior.

Now, I see ELF, Pixie, IT cosmetics, NYE, and I don't have a clue.

What's rubbish and what's worth buying?

Is there a pecking order?

What do you actually need?

whistlers · 18/07/2021 12:55

I mean, which specific products do you need?

LucyLockhearts · 18/07/2021 12:58

I'm thinking of lippies, eye make up, but not skincare.

I would get a specific product in mind, red lipstick for example, and google the shit out of reviews etc

Or stick to brands you like, I don't particularly feel like I'm missing out on those brands you've mentioned.

Interesting.

I just see all those brands touted in the media and wonder what they are all about.

As I say I was in Boots and didn't even recognise half the new brands out there.

It cosmetics is famous for their bb cream - I've tried it, it's great.

Pixie is famous for their glow tonic.

ELF is cheap but apparently do some good products I've never bothered to find them

RavenclawsRoar · 18/07/2021 13:09

Rimmel is one of my all time favourite brands so you really can't go wrong there. ELF is great too - very reasonably priced, decent products. My current favourite lippie is one of ELF's - it's called seriously satin I think.

4PawsGood · 18/07/2021 13:15

NYX seems to be a good all rounder and is really cheap.

BabCNesbitt · 18/07/2021 13:31

ELF do a great eyebrow - mascara, I guess, but not black! - called Wow Brow. It colours them in without giving you big fake slug brows.

ZaraW · 18/07/2021 13:37

I use IT cosmetics CC cream, Hello Sunday SPF 45 serum and their SPF 30 moisturiser. Elf eyebrow pencil is great so is NYX. Also NYX lip cream in Cannes is my current favourite lipstick.

I like Fenty Beauty palettes

Bananaman123 · 18/07/2021 20:59

Brands that I enjoy are too faced for lipsticks, foundation and eyeshadow (only the ones in the tins), NYX for liquid lipstick, MAC lipsticks (satin ones), primark lipsticks are surprisingly good too.

Nars tinted moisturiser and lip balms are brilliant and worth the money. Check out so e YouTube videos as many makeup reviews on there.

Uramaki · 18/07/2021 21:48

Nyx is a good arounder. NARS foundations are good, love their sheer glow one.
