Hi all, I’m in my 30s but have always been useless at make up, I want to give a full “going out” face a go, contour and the like....can anyone give me an idea of a list of products I would use/need?! Don’t want to spend an absolute fortune but a little advice with where to begin would be amazing!

Happy to recommend some things but What skin type do you have?
Oily? Normal? Combo? Dry?
That can have some bearing on what type of products you go for. I tend to go for products and techniques suited for oily skin.

Thanks @Whattodonow5 I think it’s just normal, and I’m fair skinned as well if that makes a difference?!

So for a full face of makeup.
I use Benefit Mattifying gel (it's got a green tint which combats redness and I find foundation sits on it really nicely.)
Estée Lauder double wear foundation. This isn't cheap but it's absolutely worth it.
Benefit do some lovely blushes as well if you're fair then the shade dandelion will look lovely.
Also the bronzer benefit do - Hula suits lots of skin types so I use that for contouring.

To save money the brand NYX is pretty good I buy their eye shadow pallets, black pencil liner and lip glosses.

I currently use a maybelline waterproof liquid liner that doesn't shift for my top lashes and a pressed powder by maybelline as well for T zone.

Currently using a No7 mascara in a gold bottle and I'm really impressed with it.

How long does it take people to do their makeup?

Whattodonow5 · 16/07/2021 07:00

Takes me 15 minutes on an average day but if going on a night out I'll spend around half an hour.
I don't find it a chore or do as I really enjoy messing about with makeup unlike doing my hair which I find deathly boring.
