Wedding guest dress help

Hi,
I was invited to a wedding for the beginning of September.
It's the first time for me to go wedding in the UK and no idea what is "normal" as I'm from foreign country where our culture is very different to UK.

I picked this one, but my husband told me it looks like bridesmaid. I like maxi length as I'm 5"11.
Can I wear things like this for wedding? Or is it for bridesmaid?
My husband is English, but he is not much of help when it comes to fashion.

Should I avoid maxi length?
Any tips welcome. Thank you.

Wedding ceremony starts at 13:00 and followed by evening reception.

Thank you

Your husband is right, but it's not the length, it's the plain colour and too pale, almost white. Too bridal/bridesmaidy.
You need colours and/or patterns.

I personally don’t love the dress but honest I’d avoid it either way. It is quite bridesmaid-y, I think it’s the combination of the pastel colour, the pleating and the maxi length. A patterned maxi would probably work better, if you prefer maxi dresses.

Yes it does look a bit like an adult bridesmaid dress. You can still wear a maxi but probably not in a pastel colour.

Kitkat151 · 15/07/2021 08:43

No to the dress....you will look like a bridesmaid...maxi is fine tho

Thank you all for your advice!
Now I have clear idea of what to avoid not to look like a bridesmaid.

I usually like muted plain colour and don't like pattern, but I have to go bold this timeGrin

Thank you so much @giletrouge

That looks lovely. Since I'm not big fan of bright colour and pattern, that dress is nice compromise for me!

Aw glad you like it! Not too expensive either - hope you enjoy the wedding! Smile

Your dress is lovely. I think you could get round the bridesmaidy look with a piece of chunky jewellery, bold coloured shoes or changing the belt.
Or as others have suggested find a similar style in a bolder or patterned fabric.
Bless your husband. He did try to help
