Hate my hair after trying new hairdresser

So… My usual hairdresser couldn’t fit me in until the end of August. I desperately needed my hair doing so thought what the heck I’ll try going somewhere else in between, it will be ok if it goes wrong and I can tie it up. But OMG! It’s fucking awful. I hate it and I can barely tie it up!

I was in there hours. It wasn’t cheap. I’ve wasted 4 1/2 hours of my life and I look fucking awful. And to top it off half way through her doing it she said it won’t be perfect! No shit sherlock!

I had it curled so didn’t really notice the cut although it felt short, and thought perhaps the colour looked dark/dull as I needed to get use to it. But fuck everything is awful. It’s not what I asked for at all.

I’ve raise my concerns with the salon, but don’t want them touching it again. My hair feels awful and I think it needs time to heal. Although I don’t know why it feels so bad as It’s so dark and I’m not actually sure what the heck she used as it was a grown out blonde root melt and platinum in places, and has no lighter bits in it now whatsoever.

Problem is my hair is too dark, and the way she’s coloured it the grey on top looks awful already, there’s no highlights and it’s one flat ash green colour.

I’ve asked the salon what she put on it, but had no reply.

So, please can anyone recommend what the heck I can put on it to brighten it a bit and make it feel in a better condition whilst I go back to my usual salon at the end of next month???

What did you book? Your picture is a full head of highlights.

Orf1abc · 15/07/2021 14:06

(Your second picture.)

MaMelon · 15/07/2021 14:17

As Orf1abc says, that second photo looks like a full head of highlights with at least 3 or 4 colours and possibly a root smudge (although I know very little about hair), whereas yours looks like maybe 2 colours? That being said, I don't think yours looks bad at all - although that's immaterial really, it's how you feel about it.

Did you show them the 2nd photo?

Tomatoe ketchup to kill the green. Anything red that you can wash out. I looked for a red toner but couldn’t find one so used ketchup. Then put some John Frieda frizz eaze HAIR MASK. ( the one in the round tub) leav it in as long as you like.

Bumzoo · 15/07/2021 14:44

It looks nothing like the photo. Did you show her that?

toughdaay · 15/07/2021 14:48

It looks nothing like the photo but your picture is badly lit and your hair isn't styled so it's impossible to compare. Also you say it's impossible to tie up, but the inspiration picture hair is shorter than yours. Can you take a clearer photo of your hair because it's difficult to give any advice at the moment.

Bleach London do a golden toner, worth trying a strand test to see if it counteracts the ashy/grey.

My hairs near enough the colour inspo you posted and I would be pissed off if I came out with ashy grey/green hair!

Would you trust the manager or a senior stylist to try and rectify?

Bythehairywartsonmywitchychin · 15/07/2021 15:14

I’ve washed and styled it and it’s looking a bit brighter, but I’m still not happy with the colour.

My hair was similar on the ends to the light blonde in the 2nd photo I’ve posted. I thought she was highlighting the top as the ends were already light, and smudging the root down. But she’s put the ash toner all over and it’s toned down the whole lot down.

I think I’m just going to have to leave it a week or two and see if it fades a bit more.

Lesson learnt, I will never try another hairdresser again as this always happens wish I do! Sob!

You aren't talking sense.

1)You say you can't put it up. But it's long, of course you can put it up.

Ok the colour might be a bit bland.

2)But the 2nd picture is of very highlighted hair. No way did you show her that photo, and then end up with what you've got.

Horehound · 15/07/2021 16:12

This is the same poster who posted a photo of an apparently stripy hair do she had a month or two ago and she had put olaplex 3 on as a hair mask and uploaded the photo of her terrible do with the mask still on and hadn't been washed on a few days.

It's bizarre

  1. It is shorter than it was and needs more weight taking out. It may look long to other people but it’s really thick and isn’t sitting properly when tied up or when straightened. I didn’t realise the cut or colour was off as she curled it, and thought perhaps I just needed to get use to it.
  1. It was light to start with. I pointed out all of the blonde bits I liked. She’s got rid of them all.
  1. No I didn’t show her a photo, lesson learned I should have. But surely if I said I like the blonde in it you wouldn’t put an ash all over?

I asked for advice for what I can put on it to brighten it up and make it feel better.

@Horehound I have never posted about my hair before. Think you’ve confused me with someone else.

I posted the picture just to show the colour. I said it hadn’t been styled. I was asking for advice on what to put on it to brighten it and make it less green/ashy and what can make it feel better.

OP, not sure if you've already considered it, but would you be able to book in a colour consultation with your usual hairdresser in the next week for some advice on what to do in the mean time? Consults are usually short so they might be able to get you in sooner than the normal wait for a full length appointment.

You had a photo but didn't show it to the hairdresser and now your upset that it doesn't look like the photo?
66babe · 15/07/2021 20:07

Ash is blond too
You should go back and tell them you are unhappy
Maybe someone more senior / experienced could do something about it ?

VictoriaLudorum · 15/07/2021 20:27

OP I don't think your own hair is thick enough or of the same texture as the second picture to get the results you wanted.
A really good hairdresser should advise you as to what is and what isn't possible with what you have got.
Sorry about the green, though.

raffegiraffe · 15/07/2021 21:28

I think it needs some warmth. I had a similar experience when I went darker than my usual platinum. I used ketchup and then a golden blonde shampoo for a week. It faded quickly. Don't worry, yours will too
