Sorry I am sure it's been done to death but MN search is playing up.

I've finally decided to give up (partly) the wires. Don't have huge boobs but enough for a party - 32FF (yes I measured the proper way). I'm about a size 12-14.

I want comfy non-wire bras, bralettes or vest tops that are supportive, pretty, have matching pants and are not expensive. I prefer NOT Marks and Spencers.

I'm not even sure they are called 'bralettes' - is that a word? Looks wrong.

I don't know if they count as pretty (they aren't lacy, they might be more "cute" than pretty, but urban outfitters do a set of comfy crop tops/bralettes that I think have matching pants.

Why not m and s? They have some really pretty ones.

Tu at Sainsbury’s have some nice ones.. and Molke the marmite of the bra world!

FKATondelayo · 13/07/2021 20:02

The urban outfitters ones look worth a punt for the price. I was hoping to have some that had more sizing options because SML is a bit unspecific but I will try them.

Molke - sorry but as Simon Cowell would say 'It's a no from me.' Grin

Triumph smart fit is a size 2 with them in your size. Highly recommended, other than the price.

Gladioli23 · 13/07/2021 20:31

Re the urban outfitters - they are pretty stretchy. I am a 12-14 ish and wear a medium.

MorrisZapp · 13/07/2021 20:38

Don't bother with anything sized sml. You need to get your bra size. I tried a load on recently and the prettiest, softest ones just left my boobs dangling in a horribly unflattering way.

I found one on ebay that's ex Marks and Spencer, it's soft, pretty and actually restrains the beasts. I'll link if I'm able, I really recommend it.

Fashion bralettes are not for us, sadly. We'd be as well to wear a fkin omelette.

WhereDidAllTheWashingComeFrom · 13/07/2021 20:41

Bravissimo do some great bralettes and soft bras

MorrisZapp · 13/07/2021 20:42

Can't do links. Here's a screenshot. Bra is true to size, I'm a 32f and it fits really well.

Obviously it's up to everyone to get what they want from bras/bralettes, but I am something like a 32G/GG under boob or bust measurements and I get on just fine with these.

I have had variously luck/not much luck with others depending on the brand (Sainsburys hasn't been great for me and I keep trying m and s ones without much luck), but these work for me - so I do think with these things it's probably trial and error until you find a sort that suits you. I am a pretty fussy bra wearer - I can easily go and try on 20+ bras and reject all but one.

I bought a summer dress recently whilst out- sudden shocking burst of sunshine promoted it!

I tucked in the straps of my existing bra (I’m a 34F) and DP said I was wobbling about all over the place 😂

Only nearby shop was Ann Summers where I got a LOVELY strapless (with straps when I need them) in a 36FF.. was only £20!

Windingroad21 · 13/07/2021 21:03

I meant a 36DD, doh. It fits perfectly and I really like it, super comfy

Gladioli23 · 13/07/2021 21:07

Doh, name change fail (NameChangeForMoney things) by me above!

FreeButtonBee · 13/07/2021 21:09

I know you said not M&S but I have this one and it’s really comfy (I could happily sleep in it). I don’t normally buy my bras in M&S but this was an exception as I can’t get on with the SML or even dress sized bralettes. I am a similar size to you (32G). I could run in this but can defo do a brisk walk with no issues

Please come back and report what you do buy, I've given up after trying sloggi zero feel, not a chance was it giving anywhere near the support or shape. Love the expression 'enough for a party' Grin

Shorthairlady · 13/07/2021 21:23

@MorrisZapp that one looks very much like the M&S Fabulous Bralette. I wear those (32F) and have finally found my bra. Lovely and comfy, binned all of my underwires.

funtimefrank · 14/07/2021 07:54

I third M&S actually for these (34f). I got 3 non wired/bralettes the other day and all v comfy, supportive and boobs look good.

Fuzzysocksies · 14/07/2021 08:40

Not exactly pretty but I’m a 32FF and got a couple of these wireless bras recently which are comfy and inexpensive: www.bouxavenue.com/full-support/full-support-lounge-bra/102687_10WH.html#q=Lounge%2Bbra&lang=default&start=4

Sloggi Zero Feel Bralette!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 14/07/2021 09:16

Oh and I won't shop at M&S either since they decided to make their changing rooms mixed sex.

Branleuse · 14/07/2021 09:20

could you order online if you dont want to use M&s changing rooms?

Branleuse · 14/07/2021 09:27

Curvy kate do a couple of cute bralettes. What sort of style do you want and what sort of level of support?

I have some bralettes that i have got from both sainsburies and also george at asda, but they do jump from an F to a G and also sometimes dont have 32s but I just get a sister size and its fine, but obviously you dont get the same support.
I have the m&s bralette people have recommended above and its pretty much as supportive as a normal bra, but i do find the band cuts in after a while as its trying to ride up, but then i find that in a lot of bralettes, as its the wires in most bras that provide the structure so this doesnt happen.

Its probably going to be trial and error

Same girl, so M&S is out for me.

I've ordered a Curvy Kate Cici, an Unwind and a Zara from Bravissimo and will report back.

Not sure if this was for me, but I don't want to give them my money at all.

Bravissimo’s Nova is amazing! I am a J cup and it still makes me look like I have a proper wired bra on!
