Teenage DS long hair. How to style?

My ds has pretty long hair, it's thick and wavy. He is adamant he will not cut it but it covers half his face. He's been having headaches and I'm sure it doesn't help not being able to see out of one eye! Anyway, do any of your teenage sons have long hair and how do they style it?

Depends if anyone's watching - if not, he's acquired an Alice band of his sister's. In public, it's a pony tail. Started off being a pony tail just at the back but leaving all of the stuff over his face - seriously we did not see his face for months but I've a feeling someone at school said something because he went onto everything in a pony tail, face visible.

I was thinking about an Alice band, thin plain black one. Although he will probably hate the feeling of it on his head. Its Almost long enough for a pony tail! Whether he would wear it like that I don't know. Sounds like your son, I just want to see his face occasionally!!

If he's having headaches then something tight across his head might irritate him. (But it works for Jack Grealish)
Is his hair thick ? Is the weight of his hair pulling on his scalp ( I have this but I'm having menopausal scalp which your DS wont be plagued by )

But having it over his eyes wouldn't help .
Though he might not want you to see his face - you know what teens are like

How short / long is it? Could he slick it back a la the Italian Eurovision guy?

Well it sounds like a perfect hairstyle for a teen who wants to hide, im not sure you'll convince him otherwise. The headaches need dealing with seperately.

DH never wore his up (wont even do it when i ask nicely!) So was just tucked behind his ears, no fringe

Word of warning for teenage boys with long hair - my DB had the most gorgeous long thick hair at 18, it was nicer than mine, but where he wore it in a ponytail all the time for work his hairline started receding! We think it was probably because of the tension, there’s no male pattern baldness on either side of our family. Luckily it did grow back eventually after he got it all chopped off…

A male friend with long hair wears a thin black Alice band. DS (only 7) favours a black stretchy Nike headband, which I think is quite comfy. There’s a property programme I watch where one of the young guys wears his in french braids quite often- which sounds like it shouldn’t work, but I think it really suits him!

DS' is very long- probably waist length. He wears a ponytail for school now, but when it was at that in between, too short for a ponytail stage he wore narrow elasticated black bands- like footballers wear, just 4mm across, but keep everything out of the eyes. Sainsbury's do them, 99p each, probably all the supermarkets/Claire's accessories etc have them. Then it was a man bun then a pony.
He wears it down all the time out of school...but the rule is he keeps it out of his eyes or it gets cut (he has v high prescription specs and wears them 100% of the time- not affecting his eyes was non-negotiable for us).

Haha, mine does too.

Though yesterday he was so hot he tied it back in a ponytail.
