Help me find a soft and comfy prom dress

My younger daughter has a year 11 prom in eight days time and is in a state about what to wear. She has zero interest in fashion and normally lives in oversized cotton tee shirts and shorts. Hates anything fitted or restricted. Apart from her compulsory school skirt she hasn't chosen to wear a skirt or dress for years. But we've been through the process of trying to choose an outfit with trousers and nothing is working.

I think her best option is a plain dress in something soft and stretchy. Doesn't need to be ultra glamorous - just formal enough to get her through the door.

We can get to a big shopping centre later this week, but neither of us really like shopping. So any
suggestions to help us narrow this down would be gratefully received.

www.quizclothing.co.uk/clothes/00100031169.html This would be cute with converse.

Saisong you are not wrong about shoes. It's highly likely she'll be in a shiny new pair of Converse - possibly sparkly so as to convince school she's being "glamourous"!
That's really sad she/you feel that the school feels she must look glamorous!

I'm so glad we didn't have prom when I was a kid (I'm actually considered very glamorous - but I dress for myself and not others)
If she wants to wear converse she should, I don't think she will be the only one.

"Glamorous" is the dress code. I think it's intended to give them flexibility to interpret as they wish. Jeans or sportswear not permitted. Beyond that it's pretty flexible, but the kids do tend to dress up.

There's not much around at the moment but chi chi is popular

Or 'Needle and Thread' might be more her style

100% jumpsuit/playsuit!
I got a beautiful playsuit from new look, the short part was navy and the top was long sleeves and all lace. Shove a sparkly belt round the middle for 'glamour' Smile

Ariella does soft formal dresses that are sort of a shiny jersey material - I wore one for my own prom a few years ago! - like this

How about this, I have a dress in the same cut and it's supremely flattering

I’m 28 so I’m not 100% what teenagers wear but shops like Hope and Ivy, Needle and Thread, Maya and Virgos Lounge do lovely embellished dresses. You can find most on ASOS. A nice midi, tulle skirt and matching top might work. Flattering and she’ll be able to show off her sparkly converse! www.asos.com/maya-tall/maya-tall-cold-shoulder-embellished-crop-top-and-tulle-midi-skirt-with-slit-co-o/grp/35315?colourwayid=60440481&cid=21094#22967266
