As recommended today by Sali Hughes.

Now I’m a bit of a spendthrift but that’s too rich for my blood. Anyone up for it?

I like that there's a Vegan leather option. And the refillable is a good way to go. But it's a no from me at those prices.

HyggeTygge · 10/07/2021 16:19

Just to be clear, it was "recommended" in a column specifically about luxury lipsticks that acknowledged the ludicrous prices over and over again:
"We’ve recently run a bargain special, so please indulge me while I talk about the hugely expensive, wildly extravagant luxury lipsticks that I think (for a true obsessive, at least) are worth it" etc. No way would i buy it as i don't wear lipstick but I don't buy football season tickets or spa days either because I'm likewise not interested in those.

HOW MUCH?!

HyggeTygge · 10/07/2021 16:24

Wonder if you can just buy the actual lipstick bit which is £36 and not bother with the leather case thing?!

Blossomtoes · 10/07/2021 16:25

Yes, @HyggeTygge, it was in a column about luxury lipsticks and I’ve paid £40 for a Tom Ford one in the past but this staggered even extravagant me!

Not quiet fair, surely. You're paying for the leather case - it's a bit pointless, but I've been swayed by the odd ultra-pretty lipstick case in my time.

And it's optional. No one's forcing anyone to buy it.

I think it might be a bit tricky to use. Would be good if they did cheaper case options. I think Charlotte Tilbury did refillable ones once.
nahnahna · 10/07/2021 16:39

@HyggeTygge love your name SmileSmileSmile personally I don't have an issue with the price if it is the ultimate lipstick which is pigmented, moist and doesn't migrate on your face, glass or clothing

Is it ?

noodlezoodle · 10/07/2021 18:35

I get the refillable lipstick idea but I'm not sure I'd want a leather case. Can imagine it getting a bit oily and greasy with years of use.

Then again maybe it's just me that's a Pigpen and other people would be able to keep it immaculate!

Classica · 10/07/2021 18:47

A leather lipstick holder doesn't appeal in the slightest. I like a nice sleek metallic tube.

MouldyPotato · 10/07/2021 18:56

Aparantly it's made out of left over offcuts of leather so that seems less frivolous than wasting a cow. But I'd have expected it to be cheaper. And also as PP said I'd get that greasy and oily and mucked up if I used it for years.

Geamhradh · 10/07/2021 19:43

The most luxe lippy I ever had was in the 90s and was by Kanebo. You had to have s special remover to get it off. It was fabulous.

SocksAndTheCity · 10/07/2021 20:52

Hourglass do a nice refillable lipstick in a very swish tube www.cultbeauty.co.uk/hourglass-confession-ultra-slim-high-intensity-refillable-lipstick.html

I thought it seemed expensive before I looked at this thread Grin

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 10/07/2021 21:09

The Lisa Eldridge lipsticks mentioned in the same column are truly fabulous - 10/10 recommend and I have both the colours discussed.
