In need of a new gel moisturiser!

Spam me with your recommendations of the best gel moisturiser. I have a separate nars spf 50 I apply so don't need one to include spf.

Currently using Clinique moisture surge, but since getting pregnant, my skin is so dry and the Clinique one isn't cutting it for me anymore!

Don't want to spend a fortune and it must be a gel consistency as I find regular creams too greasy on my skin

Neutrogena Hydro Boost water gel! It's fab x

MouldyPotato · 10/07/2021 13:30

Avène Hydrance Aqua-Gel Moisturiser (often in a 3 for 2 offer at Boots)

Beauty pie Japanfusion 😍

Polkadotties · 10/07/2021 13:34

The Clinique yellow one.

Thanks all :) I'll have a look at these suggestions xx

Simple do a gel moisturiser, I switched from the Clinique one and love it

bambooelectrictoothbrushhead · 10/07/2021 15:21

Liz Earle. Feels very hydrating and smells nice too

Lookdeepintotheparka · 10/07/2021 16:11

I really like the Liz Earle gel moisturiser as suggested above.

Also I use the Revolution skincare hydration gel which is good too.

I much prefer gel moisturiser too and have tried out quite a few different brands now! I find both these ones sink in beautifully without leaving a greasy film.

The Asda Vitamin C range is great!!

LimpLettice · 10/07/2021 20:18

Antipodes Baptise Gel. I've had several generous samples and keep meaning to buy a full pot. I love the formula even though I usually use something heavier. Quite scented but not in an annoying way, and leaves my skin glowing.

Bottomofsmughill · 10/07/2021 21:02

Origins Ginzing is lovely.

Earlydancing · 10/07/2021 21:07

Have you tried the Clinique moisture surge supercharged? It's has little bubbles of hyaluronic acid in it. I have slightly dry skin but occasionally it looks dehydrated and this sorts it out. I don't find the normal moisture surge helps my skin at all, ut the supercharged does.
If your skin has dry patches, though, I would think you'd need an emollient and I don't think gels are very good at that.

Yes yes! It's lovely.
lazylinguist · 10/07/2021 21:23

Ooh I've never tried a gel moisturiser. What have I been missing?

Kjr33 · 10/07/2021 21:26

I had a lovely ahc one but decided to try some cream ones and if you fancied a change the rovectin clean lotus water is amazing! I think they call it a gel cream and it’s not at all greasy but seems a bit more moisturising than the gel ones I was trying.

Earlydancing · 10/07/2021 21:43

I've tried that Neutrogena Hydro Boost. Did you not think it smelled like a urinal cake?

FreshFaceTime · 10/07/2021 21:56

Aldi do a fake Clinique moisture boost in case anyone's interested. I did a blind test and honestly can't tell the difference.

@ReginaaPhalange if your skin is dry now you're pregnant maybe something cream based would be better? You could try the cream moisture surge? I think it's the one called "intense". Or are you sure the skin issue isn't more dehydration rather than dry? Make sure you're drinking plenty of water :)

ReginaaPhalange · 10/07/2021 23:08

@FreshFaceTime I really don't get on with creams - they cause me to break out and I just feel my skin is greasy.

I use the Revolution watermelon one. I got one from Aldi that is meant to be a dupe of a Glow Skin one (also watermelon) but I think it was a one-off, which is a bloody shame as it’s lovely. Worth looking in case they re-launch it.

NotMyCat · 10/07/2021 23:43

This is incredibly watery and light, Korean brands do the best gel ones (if anyone wants to order from stylevana I'm happy to add other recommendations!!)

FreshFaceTime · 11/07/2021 08:27

@ChrissyPlummer agree the Aldi watermelon one was lovely.

ApplyWithin · 11/07/2021 10:05

Dermalogica Ultra Calming Barrier Repair goes on very smoothly and is a lovely makeup base.

ChrissyPlummer · 11/07/2021 10:18

I’ve only just opened mine @FreshFaceTime as I bought it and was only halfway through the Revolution one. WHY do Aldi/Lidl do this? They have had so many popular products but they never make them permanent. Grrr!

MiaowMiaow99 · 11/07/2021 16:54

Ive swapped to the Aldi moisture surge dupe. I find it more moisturising than the original one.
I have to buy it off ebay at twice the price (a tenner instead of a fiver). As i don't have an Aldi easy to get to.
