Saying goodbye to beloved clothes

I’ve finally done the most brutal cut of my wardrobe clear-out - the 20s charity shop gems. Goodbye Versace lime-green bustier suit; farewell jeans with flags instead of legs. I hope you make another skint youngster as happy as you made me.

Ah, lovely. Pass them on, give them a new life.

They’ve gone to Sense; I hovered over them like a confused guard pup for a while!

Very good! I love a good purge. I did the same today, although my discards are ASOS and Monsoon!

Don't do what I do, and go back in in a few days and moon over them on the rails 🙈

Slothkin · 08/07/2021 21:29

Oh god @thedevilinablackdress I wouldn’t be able to leave them like that! I am firmly of the belief they have now slipped into Old Clothes Narnia, which consists of gentle pettings by pretty kitties until someone wants to take you home.

Aw! You have lovely memories (photos, too?) Your clothes have gone on to the next part of their journey. You’re raising funds for a good cause....and someone else gets an amazing find to cherish. It’s all good. Flowers. And you’ve made space for more treasure (I’m an enabler Grin).

Slothkin · 09/07/2021 15:44

Haha @Craftycorvid I have a glorious Needle & Thread gown just waiting to be taken up which may have motivated the most recent bout of clearing out! I have a very simple day-to-day style but a definite taste for a big statement piece when I find it.

God you’re so brave.
I gave away ( after 30 years of hoarding) my long flowy Laura Ashley dresses. Bastard Covid clear out.
Literally the second before it’s all fashionable again and worth £100’s on eBay.

Slothkin · 09/07/2021 18:45

Ah @Thewinterofdiscontent I think I could probably make some money from them but I’m fortunate to be able to not need to and because they were from charity shops I’d like them to go back out there for weird youngsters too?

On the other hand I have a vintage Chanel suit which will go to the grave before I do. I consider myself its custodian.
