Dressy top

Hi, I'm looking for a dressy top to wear with skinny black trousers. I'm 5' 3", average BMI. I'd like to hide my ageing arms, so 3/4 sleeve or long short sleeve is best.

'It's to take with me camping, so I'd prefer a fabric which doesn't crease or need ironing.

I'd like something simple and structured, modern and different. I'm not a fan of frills and bows. My favourite colours are mid toned and smoky, raspberry, smoky blues and greens.

I'd quite like it to go with this Gilly Langton bracelet which I've got in cerise and baby (it looks more purply than pink).

Very specific I know! Anyone got any ideas?

I like my kimono top from one hundred stars - they travel very well, and you can chuck it over anything. There's lots of patterns, but this one has some pink in it.

Pootles34 · 08/07/2021 16:10

I've just realised you said structured - these are the least structured thing ever, sorry!

CardiganOfDoom · 08/07/2021 16:13

I've fancied a 100 stars headband for a while actually! But not the top I'm after.

I like Cos, for example, but I'm far too short for it.

Look at mint velvet. Cos.

I don't think it would crease

Dreamsofthebeach · 08/07/2021 16:29

I don't have any ideas sorry, but I love your bracelet!!!

I've been looking for a bracelet to wear with a plain black dress but unfortunately that's way over my budget.

CardiganOfDoom · 08/07/2021 16:42

Quentin I love the colour of that and I think it'd be great with the bracelet. I just feel it's more jeans than dressy, somehow?

Dreams - I actually went to see her in her studio near Skye. She's lovely! And then I was wibbling over how expensive it was, when DH surprised me for my birthday!

What a lovely present. Having a look at her other jewellery. Love the colours.

Something like this?

Or I thought this would show off the bracelet but you might be a bit too black

The shapes of those are great, thanks - but I do think I'd prefer some colour.

Too loose? www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/harriet-top/sty-w0738

Another option but possibly too long sleeved? www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/anastasia-smocked-top/sty-w0759

BananasAreEvil · 10/07/2021 06:37

I am shorter than you and Cos is my go-to place for tops!

CardiganOfDoom · 10/07/2021 07:19

Those are lovely Iklekid! Maybe not quite what I want in the dressy top (a bit loose as you say) but fab to dress jeans up a bit. And in the sale.

Bananas - I'll check cos out again. Another problem is that apart from the mono colours, they're not really my favourite smoky pinks, mauves, blues and greens. More mustard yellow, which makes me look ill.

Try Whistles, Reiss, Jigsaw or Mango.
