If you order something do you send it back if you find it cheaper elsewhere?

I buy most of my clothes and shoes online and usually wait for sales or promotions eg 30% off everything to buy what I have had my eye on.

I ordered a pair of sandals and have had them a few days (not worn them obviously) and now they are £10 cheaper on a different website. I don’t know if I can be bothered to send them back. On the other hand I like a bargain and I could save £10!

Wondering what other people do as prices seem to change every day.

Sometimes in fact usually . But I hate paying too much. If returns are free I would. Hopefully passing post office at some point so not going out of my way to do so.

Bagelsandbrie · 08/07/2021 07:37

Yes if it’s free returns or the cost of the return means I still save money.

ElderMillennial · 08/07/2021 07:40

No. Once I've bought something I don't then look for it at a cheaper price.

One of the reasons that I like to buy from John Lewis is their price match guarantee. If an item you’ve bought is reduced even on another website then you can be refunded the difference:

Yes good point about John Lewis.

I would if it was easy/quick to do.

Metabigot · 08/07/2021 08:40

Yeah always. And if it goes down in price from the same place in the sale I order it again and send it back under the old order.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 08/07/2021 13:11

No I don't do this, I just think 'ah typical' and that's it. But I'm time poor and hate faffing. I also don't go to 3 different stores to get the best prices on my weekly shop like some members of my family.

This is such a good idea, especially with those reports of returned clothes just being sent straight to landfill from some places.

Funatlast · 08/07/2021 13:24

I hadn’t heard that about landfill. That upsets me.

@Funatlast it's generally the cheaper end of the high street/online retailers but it's disgusting

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 08/07/2021 15:47

I've done that with ASOS before. I noticed a few times that the item I ordered a few weeks earlier had gone on sale. Even if I've worn them I will just order another of the item on sale, and then send that same item back with the receipt for the full priced item I'd already ordered if that makes sense.
