Hi, I need to get a pair of trainers to go with dresses and a pair of sandals, again to go with dresses. What's in fashion these days? Please help!

Plain white trainers seem to be all the rage with dressers now
I see lots of women wearing them with a short denim jacket
I'm not really a dress girl though
There are many many plain white trainers around .. I'd go to TK Max and see what I liked more than what other people say is right or wrong ..

Stan Smith Adidas trainers are absolute classics.

I love my Adidas superstars. They look neat on my narrow feet and really comfortable
I have them in black and a pair in off white I'm 56 so I didn't want pure white

Stan Smiths. I own 4 pairs. They are the comfiest shoes and go with everything!

What are your legs/ankles/feet like and do you have any bits you want to hide or disguise?
I’m not suggesting people shouldn’t wear what they want but (as an example) for me my sturdy ankles don’t look too good in a shoe with an ankle strap or with the laces/tongue too high. Worth considering before choosing.
So if I’m buying canvas trainers I choose Superga or vans over converse, or if I’m buying sandals then slider/mule/Birkenstock style over anything with an ankle strap. I particularly love Menorcan sandals and I’m sad it took me 40 years to discover them

Trainers - one pair dark, and one pair light will give you something to go with everything. I have Nike revolutions 4 in black for my dark pair. And cream slip on Vans for my light.

Sandals - it’s not 100% clear what you want. Cream wedge espadrilles always look good - M&S bring them out every year, but high end Castaner have great reviews. For something flat, slides are trendy and you can get them in very casual finishes, or something more fancy like leather ones from Dune.

I have navy Stan smiths which are my go to trainers. Some really nice plain white with silver star studs from mint velvet and a pair of veja s with the pale pink v.
