Charm jewellery - too old fashioned or embrace?

Long before Pandora, Thomas Sabot, Links and Nomination became popular I had an old style charm bracelet - but they were just going out of fashion so I never added any charms to it
Charms I bought or got as gifts I used to wear as earrings or pendants - but then got bored with that too!
Not really sure what to do with them and don’t really want to sell as sentimental
I’ve got a Celtic link ankle chain I could add some too or could add a select few to charm bracelet and go retro
What do you think? Any other suggestions?

I personally would say it is quite old fashioned so I'd keep it safe somewhere until it comes back in?

FindingMeno · 03/07/2021 23:44

I would absolutely add the charms and wear it.

CryptoFascist · 03/07/2021 23:46

I think this style is coming back in, I'd wear it

littlem133 · 03/07/2021 23:48

Confidence is in fashion right now so if you like it and it makes you feel good then wear it and enjoy

Ninkanink · 03/07/2021 23:49

Oh it’s so cute! I’d wear it.

TiddyAndFletch · 03/07/2021 23:55

I far prefer the old style charm bracelets to yet another blah Pandora bracelet. I'd 100% wear it.

Myshitisreal · 03/07/2021 23:56

How do you carry yourself and how do you choose your clothes? If you have your "own style", then wear it with conviction, regardless of fashion!

hellohellosailor · 04/07/2021 00:02

My DH bought me one on EBay very recently. It's full of charms and I love it! Will be wearing mine

Cattenberg · 04/07/2021 00:08

I like charm jewellery. You can make it unique and meaningful to you. So I’d say - go for it!

CatWithARabbit · 04/07/2021 00:10

Go for it ! Far more interesting than Pandora. Each charm will have special significance- I keep trying to talk my daughter into having one but no luck so far. I wish I had one!

JaceLancs · 04/07/2021 00:37

Thank you everyone - majority so far is go for it!
I definitely have my own style
Perhaps just add the animal theme charms to bracelet then they would be well spaced out
Then maybe either the shamrock or good luck symbol on the ankle chain and keep or sell the rest

My very full charm bracelet is very important to me. I've never even considered if it's fashionable or not!

FictionalCharacter · 04/07/2021 01:34

How lovely! I’d definitely wear that. So much better than wearing the same as everyone else.

Myshitisreal · 04/07/2021 03:18

Good for you. Are you crafty you could make a bag charm... I'm thinking keyring, hooky thing, something?

Rua13 · 04/07/2021 07:07

Definitely go for it. They are very personal and unique.Add the jade buddha charm too.Jade has healing properties.

TheVampiresWife · 04/07/2021 07:26

That sort of charm bracelet is beautiful. And also quite fashionable now - my namesake The Vampire's Wife makes one but the charms are sadly prohibitively expensive! There are some sellers on eBay who sell vintage charms to put on them - I recently bought one that's a church which opens and you can see a priest marrying a couple inside. It cost about a fiver in sterling silver and I wear it as a pendant, but I'm thinking about curating a charm bracelet myself.

Wear and love it OP!

TheVampiresWife · 04/07/2021 07:27

Here's the VW one. It's £30k, though!

If you don’t want to wear them as a bracelet, charm necklaces are another alternative now. I think charm bracelets are awesome, so much character and great heirlooms.

SocksAndTheCity · 04/07/2021 18:45

Definitely wear them! Or sell them to me Grin

I love my charm bracelets and wear them often - this is my current favourite which I'm trying to fill up (it's from Fossil but I look out on eBay for charms, and I have some old ones too). I don't like the Pandora ones either, but each to their own.

I have a solid gold charm bracelet, collected over 54 years, and it's my most treasured possession - I wear it a lot. In fashion, out of fashion....I don't care. It's a totally unique and meaningful item of jewellery.

Your charms are absolutely beautiful - definitely load them onto a bracelet/anklet and wear them!

JaceLancs · 06/07/2021 00:13

Thanks for all your help
My decision is to add a careful selection!
They are being done tomorrow

I used to love looking at my Muns charm bracelet when younger. She had momentos of places she'd been, like an Eiffel Tower, amp of Mexico etc

TheVampiresWife · 06/07/2021 10:01

That's beautiful OP!

Ceara · 06/07/2021 10:10

I loved playing with my mum's charm bracelet as a child. I love mine. Everything on it has memories and emotions attached. I get it out regularly and wear it, because I love it, and to keep those memories close. Glad you have decided to embrace yours OP!
