Birkenstock fit guide - help please!

Would any seasoned Birkenstock wearers be able to give an opinion on the fit of my Madrids? These are the 37 narrow. Usually I wear a size 5/ EU38 but was advised to size down but I can't work out if these are too small or not! Toes aren't touching the front but are very close. Also wondering if I should go for the Arizona instead of the Madrid! Thanks in advance and apologies for the foot pics! Smile

Look a bit small to me. I’m usually a 5/5.5 and got the EU38 and they’re perfect, felt instantly comfortable. I definitely have more space at the ends than you do.

QueenAdreena · 02/07/2021 20:21

Mine were also Madrid’s.

I'd say they're the but I'd go for the Arzona as they don't flip flop when you wear them

KirstenBlest · 02/07/2021 20:21

Can't tell without a sideways view showing the heel. I size down. From the photo they look a bit small. Are they comfortable when you walk around?

I have the Madrid ones and the Arizona. I prefer the Arizona.

Jasquers · 02/07/2021 20:21

I would say possibly too small but how do your feet feel in them? I love my Arizona pair and have them in my usual size. I'm glad I didn't size down

ILikeBiscuits · 02/07/2021 20:22

They look a bit short to me - your second toe on your left foot will be bashed against the raised bit of the footbed when you walk. How much space is there at the heel?

I take a smaller size in Birkenstocks than other shoes, but in a normal footbed not the narrow.

LineofFruity · 02/07/2021 20:22

I’ll save you a picture of my manky feet but I’m a size 6 and buy a size 6 - I have a lot more room at the end than you do too.

ThomasHardyPerennial · 02/07/2021 20:23

Too small, there should be gaps at the front and back. If they are too small your toes will just rub on the rim when you walk, and it's not pleasant!

eurochick · 02/07/2021 20:23

They look a bit small. I'm a 38 and have the black Madrid's in a 37 but there is more room for my toes than you have.

ILikeBiscuits · 02/07/2021 20:23

I have several pairs of Madrids and two Arizonas, through buying one new pair a year for a while.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 02/07/2021 20:24

They look a bit small. Definitely try the Arizonas. I love mine!

polexiaaphrodesia · 02/07/2021 20:25

Thanks everyone, looks pretty unanimous that they are a bit too small! I've had a stomp around my bedroom in them and I've just got this feeling that they are not quite right so back they go! Just seen that the Arizona are reduced on Surfdome so may try them instead.

I used to wear 37 standard - the narrow is too small. Size 5.5 generally. This year I got 38 standard (mayari) as they were in stock in my preferred colour and I actually think they fit a bit better.

Hellvelyn · 02/07/2021 21:00

They look a bit small. I'm usually reliably a 40 but take a 39 in my beloved Birkies

Hardchoices · 02/07/2021 21:19

You should have a really decent rim around the whole of your foot before the edge of the footbed. Those are def too small.

Marriedatfirstyear · 02/07/2021 23:57

I had an inshop try on for a good 40 minutes and ended up with the Arizona. It fits snuggly and the lady assured me it would stretch and to have it at the tightest strap hole so it forms to my foot. I'm usually a 6 wide in other places and got a 6 narrow. I tried around 12 pairs as wanted to get it right. Worn them a week and they feel fine. Ypurs looks good to me .
