I look so old! What to do about my eyes?

Sitting in the hairdressers today staring at my face in the mirror with a mask on, I realised that my eyes really age me. I’ve never used any anti-aging product and don’t have a clue where to start.
Please help.

How do you feel about fillers? I have fillers to smooth out the creases and I’m also booked in for a treatment called Jalupro that gets rid of dark circles. I also have Botox for the fine lines around my eyes.
I have always hated my eye area, it really ages me.

Ipreferwinter · 02/07/2021 19:41

Stop with the Botox and fillers suggestions!! Do you people work on commission???

They make people look weird and they are so unnecessary.

SalsaLove · 02/07/2021 19:46

I’m having the same problem but I’m 10 years older. I’ve had my eyebrows shaped and lightly tinted and have booked an appointment to discuss tear trough filler.

But how do you know they’re unnecessary? Is that your opinion for everyone? Maybe some people want Botox and fillers, and feel better about themselves for having them.

Mine look worse OP. I use all manner of creams and drink 5 litres of water a day. Don't drink, don't smoke (although did for years when I was younger). I've had Botox which helped my 11s and crows feet but doesn't help under the eye.

I think only answer is tear trough fillers but that's a step too far for me so I guess I'll just carry on looking old. I'm mid forties.

23andbroke · 02/07/2021 19:50

I’m 23 and have some lines around my eyes - I think that’s normal.

It’s the lines between your brows which are changing your appearance - they sort of give a permanent expression on your face? An involuntary frown can look like anger/sadness/confusion

Unfortunately Botox is the only thing that will help although it should make a large difference

Keeping your skin healthy and moisturised will give it a natural glow and make it look more youthful

Hugbear · 02/07/2021 19:51

@kardashianklone, I too have really thin under eye skin with freckles. Can I ask how you had your freckles removed?

CimCardashian · 02/07/2021 19:52

You could get your eyebrows threaded and then maybe some LVL lashes? Two simple things that make a huge difference.

I think you look fine OP,we can all criticise ourselves when staring into the hairdressers mirror!

Ipreferwinter · 02/07/2021 19:54

@SalsaLove

Because ageing isn't an illness.

And people do look weird with Botox and fillers, they don't look 'younger' or 'fresher' they look like someone the same age who has had 'work' done.

23andbroke · 02/07/2021 19:55

I don’t think you need to do much to your eyebrows - thick/bushy eyebrows are in right now. Just get a brow mascara and comb them up so they look more groomed

NameChange456789 · 02/07/2021 20:01

I think you have beautiful eyes too, OP.

grownup2 · 02/07/2021 20:12
I’ve just starting using this by niod and I really recommend it. My eyes are definitely looking older than the rest of my face and while it hasn’t worked miracles I do think it’s improved my eye area more than any of the other eye creams and serums I’ve tried. www.lookfantastic.com/niod-fractionated-eye-contour-concentrate-serum-15ml/11173731.html
I second this. Expensive by my standards but a bottle lasts a very very long time. Doesn't irritate my eyes at all and dries or absorbs quickly. I really saw a difference immediately and so have used for about 7 years. I'm 56 and my eyes look younger than a lot of other parts of me! Photo with no makeup.

But that’s your opinion and it doesn’t reflect everyone’s experience.

Cam22 · 02/07/2021 20:41

Get your eyebrows done. Apart from that, you look great. Beautiful eyes.

Pikachusbutt · 02/07/2021 20:46

Do you use anything like a moisturiser or eye cream. I'm 41. I've started using loreal revitalift face cream and eye cream this last year after using nothing. I think I can see a bit of difference around my eyes after using it.

Ipreferwinter · 02/07/2021 20:50

@SalsaLove

Well I can only speak from my own experience can't I?

I know plenty of women (and it is mainly women who are manipulated into this mindset) who've had stuff done to their perfectly lovely faces and it just looks weird and a bit off-putting.

The best looking people are at ease with themselves without all that junk.

GentleGiantOctopus · 02/07/2021 21:05

I agree you don’t look older than your age and that your eyes are so striking! I bet you smile a lot and people are more used to seeing that, not your resting face (which is still perfectly lovely). Botox might deaden your lovely expressive eyes. I’m only a couple of years younger than you and I’ve noticed that among my friends of a similar age, we all have differing amounts of wrinkles, but those of us with deeper lines don’t necessarily look the oldest anyway (not that it matters anyway).

I honestly don’t think you need to do anything. Although if the frown lines are caused by squinting in the sun (as mine are), wear sunglasses - not so much to stop the wrinkles as to protect your eyes!

ElectricMistofelees · 02/07/2021 21:11

Hard to see from the photo but I had terrible skin under my eyes - it was crepey and dry and really ages me. I bout a cheap retinol eye cream and put it on twice a day religiously and it has really improved things! This is literally the only thing I’ve done skin-wise but I’m a convert!

Seconded 👏👏👏

I'm sorry but I'm going to be honest and say I was shocked when you said how old you were, I'm a year older than you and have wrinkles and fine lines but I would say someone with eyes like that looks to be in their 50s and a smoker or in poor health. I've always looked after my skin though and I think its really obvious you haven't. I thought you would appreciate an honest opinion.

Wow!

Or should that be miaow?

Your skin looks really oily and weird by the way and at a guess I'd say you've inflicted botox on those pencilled-in brows.

Falafell · 02/07/2021 21:59

Thanks, yes I do have quite oily skin but also the light of my phone reflecting is probably the shine Wink.
I have never had botox or any kind of work done.

There’s just no need to say stuff like this, seriously what’s the point in making her feel worse? At least offer some advice to try to be helpful 🤷‍♀️
