Help with finding a Dress/outfit for dinner in London?

We have our wedding anniversary in London in few weeks time and would like inspiration for an outfit for dinner- not sure where yet but somewhere formal and nice, but not stuffy, maybe bankside near where we are staying. We will probably walk to wherever it is unless raining so flats essential and I don't think I want anything too glam as like a cooler not trying hard vibe- and we probably wander about a bit after dinner and look at street performers/ tourist things.

I have loads of nice 'day wear' that I would also wear for most casual evenings out - skirts/midi and maxi dresses/cullotes/ in cottons / cheesecloth/ viscose etc but nothing really nice for a special-ish occasion. Last time I got dressed up was for my 40th in December 2019 Grin

I'm 5'6 size 16 (average to large) with a defined waist, average bust and hips and narrow shoulders so a slight pear. Heavy set thighs and ugly knees so nothing above the knee. And a bulgy lower tummy pouch thing.

Doesn't have to be a dress can be separates. Budget £100ish.

All help gratefully received Smile

I’m going to take a stab in the dark with this dress from Kin.

@Divebar2021 that's great thank you and the kind of vibe I think I'm looking for.

I don't really know what people wear to go out for a specialish occasion dinner in London anymore.

I’m also a size 16 and 5’6” although more hourglass… I also have the poochy stomach that drives me nuts. I would feel nice in that dress because it’s loose and long without being too obviously trendy. Kin have got a few dresses in that category if you prefer a different colour. I went to a “naice” London restaurant on Monday for lunch and wore a long black & white spotty dress with silver ankle boots… had it actually been sunny I would have worn flat sandals probably ( although trainers would have been fine I was celebrating a birthday and took the opportunity to dress up). The other customers were very varied in dress… no-one was super dolled up although this was obviously only a Monday lunch.

Some will be dolled up to the nines, some will be achingly hip and some will be relaxed. It's important to dress for you in London, wear what makes you feel fab.

Have a great time!
