What should I do with my hair (with pics)

I feel very drab and boring.

I used to have blonde highlights which I preferred colour wise but my hair is fine and the highlights were causing damage and it never grew. So I'm trying to grow it (you can see the old highlights at the bottom).

What shall I do?

With fine hair I would always go for a shorter cut with as much volume added as possible. It looks like you have a lovely slim face so could pull off a shorter cut. Something like this. Or, if you're really brave, a pixie cut!

@peachgreen thank you so much.

I don't think I could ever be brave enough for a pixie cut!

The trouble is and I know I'm not alone in this, with two DC, school run etc normal boring bits of life, I need low maintenance. But low maintenance = boring!

This isn't very helpful but I actually like it as it is!
You could have a few highlights put in again but keep your natural root for low maintenance and you won't need regular highlights that will damage your hair.

That bob should be low maintenance - maybe blow drying your fringe and using straighteners to quickly wave the top layers after it's dried naturally - that should be about it!

I like it now too - looks nicely understated. Agree that adding some balayage highlights would refresh it and wouldn't need too much upkeep.

If you definitely want a restyle, I think peachgreen's suggestion is good. I've had cuts like this in the past and they weren't particularly high maintenance, but did benefit from putting a few waves in with straighteners.

I think you have lovely hair. As a PP mentioned, maybe some balayage or a few baby lights to keep the colour updated without damaging it too much

Thanks all. I was thinking maybe a fringe but I know that's probably the most high maintenance things ever! Confused
