Orangey scent?

WeirdArchitecture · 27/06/2021 19:59

Can anyone recommend me a citrusy orange scent that lasts well and has a nice warmth to it for summer evenings, etc?

There's a guerlain one that caught my eye but it has some odd reviews - some say it smells like a vitamin drink (!).

I have previously tried and not loved Byredo and Atelier Cologne, nor do I like the orange and bergamot by molten brown.

Under £100 preferably.

Any tips?

Penhaligon’s Orange Blossom. Not overly citrusy (on my skin anyway) on first spray, but dries to a gorgeous smooth summer evening fragrance.

Elie Saab le Parfum. Orange blossom heaven.

Zara Amalfi Sunray is a nearly exact copy of the oh so wonderful but very overpriced Tom Ford Neroli Portofino. It’s part of Zara Jo Loves line. Get it whilst you still can, great quality for a low price.

Bluebells1 · 28/06/2021 06:49

Penhaligon's does a few Orange/Neroli scents but my absolute favourite orange is Marc Jacob's Honey. It is a blast of Orange Blosson and dries down sweet.

I recently had some of the new limited edition Jo Malone Orange peel perfume sprayed on me in Selfridges. By the time I got the door, I had to turn back and buy it as it smelt absolutely amazing.

Hermés Orange Verte

I was given Jo Malone orange blossom when I got married (I think it's traditionally a wedding scent?) it smells gorgeous, just not on me unfortunately!

Feel terrible as I don't know what to do with it to be honest. Feels too expensive to use as a room spray or something, but I've tried a few times and it just smells awful on me!

I love these threads, you get such unusual suggestions. I bought an almond vanilla scent based on MN recommendation and I love it.
I used to adore D&G Sicily but it's more lemony/sun tan lotion and I'm not sure you can still get it. Smells like holidays!

FlibbertyGiblets · 29/06/2021 19:28

@CheerfulBunny ooh could you tell me more about your almond vanilla perfume please?

CheerfulBunny · 29/06/2021 19:37

It's this: www.fragrantica.com/perfume/L-T-Piver/Heliotrope-Blanc-11560.html
There was another thread all about almond/cherry bakewell perfumes. It's very unusual, soft and sweet with a hint of playdoh - yummy! Smile

FlibbertyGiblets · 29/06/2021 19:38

Thank you so much, v kind. Mwah!

WeirdArchitecture · 29/06/2021 19:59

love these suggestions, still ruminating over it, thanks ladies!

I've been watching this thread with interest, as I really love this room fragrance: www.bambamrocks.com/product-page/bambam-r (burnished orange and woodsmoke fir) and wish I could find a similar perfume!

Acqua di parma blue mediterraneo arancia di capri is lovely and orangey, my go to summer citrus scent.

SummaLuvin · 30/06/2021 13:10

A bit late on this and you have already had a lot of great replies, but Jo Loves (the company Jo Malone started after leaving Jo Malone) has some nice orange scents and I don't think anyone upthread has mentioned them.

Green Orange and Coriander
Orange Butterflies
Mandrine

They do sample sets which allow you to try tiny sizes of many fragrances.

MissBattleaxe · 01/07/2021 10:32

Good call @SummaLuvin. The Green Orange and Coriander is gorgeous.

ZaZathecat · 01/07/2021 11:25

This thread reminded me of Aqua Manda, which was popular when I was a teenager in the 70s. Just checked and it still exists.

Noapplejustcrumble · 01/07/2021 11:30

I like Clarins Eau des Jardins. And for a really lovely citrus scent I really love my 4711 Acqua Colonia Blood Orange and Basil that I bought abroad, but maybe you can order online.

Geamhradh · 01/07/2021 12:08

Nadine Baggott's latest insta live is on summer citrus (but not washing up liquid) scents. Some of them sound lovely and I've ordered a decant of the Tom Ford Positano despite loathing the man and his silly attention seeking antics. (And despite thinking Neroli Portofino is the most over-hyped same-as-every-other-neroli on the market going.
I'll try and rein in my disdain Grin

I love this but find it doesn't last well on me. Serge lutens fleurs d'oranger is expensive but absolutely gorgeous and lasts like no other citrus scent I've tried
WeirdArchitecture · 14/07/2021 20:37

Just want to update: I purchased Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria Orange Soleia.

Just for the record, it is EXACTLY the same as Atellier Colognes' Orange Sanguine. I can't sniff even a tiny difference. A wee bit lower in price, too.

It isn't quite what I was looking for, but happy enough for this summer.
I also purchased my old fave Heavenly Gingerlily by Molton Brown in parfum instead of toilette, and that's lovely too!

Thank you, again.

WeirdArchitecture · 14/07/2021 20:40

Oh, I do want to add, in case it helps anyone in the future, that the Guerlain orange lasts a LOT longer on me than Atellier Cologne's Orange Sanguine. Much more staying power.

I wear Clinique Happy which is orange and at the lower end of the market Grin I love it though.

cookiecreampie · 14/07/2021 22:28

Hugo Boss Orange. I love it and it's reasonably cheap too.

Blueberrycreampie · 14/07/2021 22:45

An oldie but goodie - Georgio - still love it!

EvelynBeatrice · 14/07/2021 22:59

I see you found one you love. Sounds lovely; will try that myself. One I loved for a whole summer was Fragonard Fleur d’oranger available now from Marks & Spencer I think. Amazing orange blossom. I prefer it to the Jo Malone one.
