Good quality, long lasting nail polish (for toes)?

I haven't bought nail polish for ages and looking to buy something online. I normally get gel polish so I'm looking for a polish that'll have a really robust colour to it, easy to apply but won't chip readily, for the toe nails.

Any ideas where to start?

I find Sally Hansen lasts well on toes, and always has a lovely deep colour!

@windflower92 Thank you, let me take a look..

The best I've ever had was a random bottle costing €1 from a French market stall.

There seems to be no relation between cost and durability, and I think a lot comes down to how well you apply it (several thin layers which dry fully inbetween each)

I'd start with the colours you like from the bargain bucket some pharmacies and market stalls have, and see how they do

I always use Barry M on toes. Goes on so well and lasts over a week and I’m in sandals every day at work. Currently wearing a bright red called Hot Chilli. Tried more expensive brands but always come back to it. One coat gives a really strong colour.

I find Boots good.

Softpebbles · 26/06/2021 14:40

I will second Sally Hansen. I bought a set of three with a base and top coat from Costco. It’s all been ace.

SirenSays · 26/06/2021 15:23

Nails Inc lasts really well on me. I love Barry M colours but they only last with a strong/thick top coat or they chip especially, the Gelly ones.

Agree 100% about the lack of correlation between price and durability.

My current favourites are from Poundland. Fast drying and excellent coverage
I've had very disappointing nail polish from Boots/ Nails Inc/ M&S/ various expensive brands.

I like the OPI infinite shine collection. You can get past seasons sets from eBay - 3 x colours, top coat and base coat for around £10 sort of a mini size but last ages!

Last three weeks on toes for me.

MapleMay11 · 26/06/2021 15:45

Zoya - best vegan polish, long lasting and highly pigmented

30not13 · 26/06/2021 15:49

Essens. Lasts weeks when others last days.

Estellelauder · 26/06/2021 15:51

Essie with Seche Vite over the top lasts weeks on my toenails.

luckylavender · 26/06/2021 15:51

Essie or Models Own

Elsabet · 26/06/2021 16:24

I like the CND vinylux ones, they have a lot of the same colours as the shellac but no curing.
I use the top coat too and it lasts until I fancy a change, a good couple of weeks.

BlueSurfer · 26/06/2021 16:26

No7 are good. I use an undercoat and top coat and it lasts ages.

Ellewoods20 · 26/06/2021 16:49

Essie is great. However, nail polish on toes seems to be indestructible unlike nail polishes on fingernails.

Jabbinell · 26/06/2021 17:55

Barry M- great value and lasts

Miseryisabutterfly · 26/06/2021 17:57

The best ones I’ve had have been L’Oréal, no 7, Zara and &OS. I’m not a fan of essie and opi.

lolacola77 · 26/06/2021 17:58

Opi are the best ever, including topcoat. My nails last least 2 weeks without chips and even then, a quick refresh coat does the job. I only need to redo them when my nails grow

Kjr33 · 26/06/2021 18:05

Rimmel gel ones are good. I hated seche vite thought it made chipping and things worse but people seem to love it.

My best lockdown purchase was a cheap uv light (£20ish) and some gel base and top coat from Amazon which has made a massive difference in how long a manicure lasts! Worth it for me as I can use my existing colours and the gel base and top coat make them last for ages. You need to get used to doing much thinner layers of polish but once you master that it’s great. Oh but buy proper remover and be prepared for how difficult it is to remove!

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 26/06/2021 18:09

Honestly, I go away for a few hours and look at all these ideas!

Thanks so much for this everyone. I'm going to go and do some research. I am feeling v. middle aged as so many of these totally foreign to me! 😁

I'm an Essie, Ciaté and OPI fan. I've never found any polish chips on toenails to be honest though.
