Like others I have cheapy ones for everyday - well when I can remember, and pricey ones for evening use.

Daytime I will agree with others on Vaseline intesive care or nivea, good solid does what it says on the tube/tub/bottle whatever.

Evening I use one to match perfumes so it is all down to smell rather than effectiveness. I use Elizabeth Arden Green Tea loads, and Alizabeth Arden Provocative Woman in the winter.

Can't be bothered to rate scores as they won't matter

PS glad you agreed on the MAC Lipglass, Liquiliner is also the bomb as you will see on the other thread - it's not JUST me who thinks that!!

Can we have a Mascara thread pls, and a foundatio one. I bought Vitalumiere after you raved here, ad now I use Pro Lumiere too for eves/winter

I still want the eyeliner thread test though. I am purposely holding back on buying one because i'm waiting for the test

I started the thread and then realised that actually it was the perfect thing for cod the consumer.

NomDePlume · 26/11/2007 18:12

I do think a value for money category is essential next time though.

Like, I'd like the Clarins Express stuff if it was £5, but the fact that it is £25 means it loses points. Whereas I'd happily pay more for the cheapy tesco one (their own brand version of vaseline intensive) as it is so good.

NomDePlume · 26/11/2007 18:16

but they'd have to up the ante packaging-wise

JackieNo · 26/11/2007 18:44

OK - I'll do the Palmers Cocoa Butter one too.

packaging 6/10 - bit boring, and quite thick plastic that makes it quite difficult to squeeze out.
scent 9/10 - I love smelling like a white chocolate button
rub-in-ability 8/10
moisturising-ness 16/20

Total: 39/50

CountessDracula · 26/11/2007 18:45

I think packaging should not be worth so much

I mean who cares what it's in if it works well?

JackieNo · 26/11/2007 18:48

But if the packaging actively makes it difficult to get the stuff out/finish the bottle, that's worth knowing, isn't it?

Chanel Mademoiselle body lotion (expensive but I only use it occasionally and even then only on my arms, neck and decolletage)

packaging 10/10 - looks like you would expect a bottle of Chanel body lotion to look, i.e. luxurious and indulgent in a pearlescent white shimmery bottle

scent 10/10 - it smells lush and I often use it in place of perfume

rub-in-ability 9/10 - but that's usually when I've not rubbed the baby powder in enough (I like to layer with Jonssons baby powder)

moisturising-ness 8/10 - I don't really use it as a moisturiser but it doesn't leave my skin feeling like sandpaper if that's any help

OliviaMumsnet · 26/11/2007 20:41

My version of Palmers Cocoa Butter for corroboration purposes: -

packaging 5/10 - looks a bit medical (like head and shoulders or something) but economical squeezy cap so you don't use too much
scent 1/10 - I hate smelling like a white chocolate button. It's so sickly sweet I feel like yacking all day whenever I use it (hence a nearly full bottle I could test!)
rub-in-ability 7/10 - can be a bit greasy on the hands
moisturising-ness 18/20

Total: 31/50
