Bright hair dyes

Anyone here dye their hair in bright colours?

If so which brand(s) do you use?

I've just discovered Arctic Fox which I like as it seems to fade quite slowly. Any other recommendations?

Always used to use Directions but found they fade far too quickly.

I’ve never found anything better than directions tbh, but I’m usually pink and it always fades really quick regardless of brand.

Dinnaehinksae · 24/06/2021 14:02

I use stargazer, its a semi permanent and although I have allergies I don't react at all. Some colours fade better than others. It does cover grey though which for me is a huge plus.

@RestingPandaFace which pink are you? My favourite Directions shade is Rose Red but it is so messy and dusts off onto everything!

Manic Panic are the best for proper bright colours - because I'd not heard of Arctic Fox before!

bettyfloormop · 24/06/2021 14:04

Arctic Fox is a US brand, and seems to be loved by the YouTubers!

I've started ysing Wrath which is. Really nice deep red colour with no orangey undertones. It fades out pinkish.

I've been experimenting with Xmondo by Brad Mondo. It is expensive but I'm impressed. Much less fade than directions!

MedusasBadHairDay · 24/06/2021 14:11

Depends on the colour tbh. I want massively impressed with Artic Fox when I tried their Aquamarine. Last time I sure my hair bright I used Manic Panic's Psychedelic Sunset, which lasted pretty well and faded nicely. I loved Crazy Colors' Peacock Blue too. I used to use Directions Flamingo Pink a lot.

I go between cerise and carnation if I want something paler.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 24/06/2021 14:46

I use Adore

Boomshakalack · 24/06/2021 14:48

Directions here too.

Bleach London is quite long lasting, but I don’t love their pink shade.

RacheyCat · 24/06/2021 23:36

I use the Colour Wash by Schwarzkopf. It's meant to be a colour depositing shampoo but I blend a few drops of the pink and the blue in with conditioner to make my desired pastel shade and apply it to dry hair before washing. It works much better than any of the above direct dyes, in my opinion.

However, if I was able to buy them here, I'd get the Shrine Colour Drops instead.

SpringLoadedJizz · 24/06/2021 23:45

Has anyone tried Inflashy? I've been eyeing them up after seeing photos on the Little Booteek page on FB, they look great but I haven't seen any recommendations outside of their page yet (to be fair I haven't done a huge amount of looking as it's been a while since I had bright colours).

Lakeshore6 · 24/06/2021 23:47

It depends on the colour. My go to is pink and I found arctic fox pinks fade fast, I was disappointed. I like iroiro , I get that shipped to the UK, or manic panic amplified version.
Adore have gorgeous colours but they don’t last for me either

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 24/06/2021 23:48

I find different brands succeed with different colours

Directions: lavender, lilac and lagoon blue
Manic panic: for pink (cotton candy and fuchsia)
Crazy colour: silver and white tones

I didn't find crazy colours last well on my hair, although the white and silver where good when I wanted to stay white.
Manic panic fades fairly fast, but looked amazing for 2 or 3 washes
Directions ware brilliant (until you want the blue out, it took 6 months of fade and then I had to go bright pink anyway to neutralise it)

I'm currently using Schwarzkopf Live Pure Purple, although it's gone more of a pink than purple on my hair, this could be down to my base colour being pillbox red...

Sunnidayz · 25/06/2021 11:15

I got my hair dyed a bright colour recently, in a salon. Have never attempted dyeing my hair myself but I really liked it and was disappointed it didn't last. I fancy getting it done again but not sure if I should attempt it myself haha.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 25/06/2021 11:17

My DD is currently impersonating an apricot with the Josh Wood dye.

She’s blonde generally, I have no idea if it will fade or wash out or what will happen.

MistressWeatherwax1 · 25/06/2021 12:22

I'm currently using directions mix of flamingo and cerise, got it done 5 weeks ago and it's not faded at all. I've never had an issue with any of their strong colours fading, only the pastels

Chimboo · 25/06/2021 12:43

Crazy Color has always lasted well in my hair, especially Cyclamen. Pulp Riot on the other hand - awful…

VienneseWhirligig · 25/06/2021 12:45

I use Manic Panic or Directions, hadn't heard of Arctic Fox. I use Redken colour magnetic shampoo though, it helps to slow down the fading. I also leave the dye on overnight - wrap my head in clingfilm a few layers, shower cap, then towels over the pillows. Never actually get any dye on the towel though... it lasts longer and my hair is in fab condition

EmmaStone · 25/06/2021 18:44

I have a lavender colour in my hair, but the dye used at the salon doesn't hold, so I don't bother anymore (but my base hair colour is largely silver). I use a colour depositing shampoo from the US - Celeb Pro Viral - about once a week, and it fades nicely over the week (I wash my hair every other day). In fact, I often get the most compliments when I think it's due re-purpling, by that point int's a lovely pale silvery-lavender.

Letsgetreadytocrumble · 25/06/2021 18:49

The Superdrug colour freedom hair colours are really pigmented and you get loads in a bottle too.

ViperAtTheGatesOfDawn · 25/06/2021 20:50

I use Arctic Fox, it works well on my hair and smells divine.

ReachedTheEndofCake · 25/06/2021 21:51

Another vote for Xmondo

DaisyWaldron · 25/06/2021 21:54

I use Arctic Fox aquamarine on unbleached hair. It's very easy to use and fades into a nice shade.
