In search of swishy, floor length maxi skirts...

I can never seem to find this style! A proper maxi skirt that is long and flowy and hangs nicely, not a column style, no splits or gathers halfway down... does such a skirt exist? Where can I find it?

Esprit has a few but whether they are floor length depends on how tall you are I guess!

This is a mix of midi and maxi skirts...

Also on the same mission, no ruffles or lampshade pleats! Will update if I find any!

I have one that I bought from John Lewis a couple of years ago. I think it’s Phase Eight, but I think that if such style exists this year, JL is a good place to look.

Have you looked at surf brands? I have a lovely floral maxi from O’Neill and another red one from Roxy. Both long and flowy!

whatswithtodaytoday · 22/06/2021 11:52

Also looking for one! I want the swish you get with lots of fabric.

I had one in the 90s! 😂

Agree that O’Neill have some. Crew so jersey maxis as do Boden

minipie · 22/06/2021 12:18

this one from Monsoon looks like a good shape. I have a similar one and it’s flattering - yes there’s a ruffle but only one and it’s low down so doesn’t add hip volume

La redoute also worth a look although lots of theirs are more midi or tiered.

Boden doesn’t seem to be doing its jersey maxis this year, it’s all blooming midi length, unless I’ve just missed them

You might want to look at Silk Fred but if you don’t mind buying from overseas then Etsy is your friend. Quite often small suppliers can do custom orders which would probably suit you.

Gudrun sjodren often have this style, or the lagenlook brands (oska, don't know what else, sorry). Or maybe East or Anokhi.
A lengha skirt would give lots of colour options, and be v full. (Can usually source in Britain just fine, if you're near a big city, or use online shopping)

Find an A Line lehenga. A lot Indian brands sell through Etsy & even with delivery charges to the UK they usually work out much, much cheaper.

If you look on Amazon for a brand called doorwaytofashion. Their skirts are very flowy and a decent weight. Great value but they are long. I'm a leggy 5'7" and they still reach the ground

Be careful going up and down stairs and steps.

Have a look on eBay for vintage Laura Ashley tiered maxi skirts. I had one in the late 80's and really regret getting rid! Got mine from eBay about 5 years ago. They're not cheap, but amazing quality & the perfect swish. Best to size up - I'm a 6/8 and needed a Medium.

Search Etsy for a cheesecloth maxi skirt

Jijithecat · 22/06/2021 16:47

OP have you tried Hotsquash? I got a lovely roll top maxi skirt from them a few years ago via John Lewis, but you can buy from them direct too.
