Hair woe *pics*

Hey all. I’ve been battling to accept my natural wavy hair for years now. Weirdly I always wore it wavy and liked it and then a comment from someone made me paranoid that I look bad. On a windy rainy day though I have no chance of keeping it straight and am trying to accept my fate! Do I look ok?
I’m really struggling with body dysmorphia at the moment and having hospital help for it so please be kind.

I think it's lovely. Mine is similar but maybe a bit thicker (frizzier!!) - I use a salt spray sometimes for texture, or a bonding oil before drying for a bit of definition - I also have highlights which defines the shape a bit more also, and adds texture. But honestly it looks nice exactly as it is!!

Spied · 22/06/2021 09:56

It looks absolutely fine.
I personally think you need the volume/waves as it's quite thin so straightening it may make it too flat.

Toilenstripes · 22/06/2021 10:01

You have lovely waves. If you want a bit of a boost, perhaps look into adding a warm rinse. Your hairdresser should be able to assess and offer ideas, but on the whole it’s very nice hair! 💐

ThatOtherPoster · 22/06/2021 10:04

It’s lovely!!

Do you take hair vitamins? I’ve been taking them for years and they really work to boost the thickness of your hair. I love the StarPower ones as they also give me loads of energy, but they’re £££. Try some. They’ll boost your hair and your overall mood.

JofraArchersFastestBall · 22/06/2021 10:09

I like it OP. It looks a lot like mine - which sometimes I hate, and sometimes I love! Mine used to be properly curly, but has dropped a bit recently (since I've had children, but that might be a coincidence)

I think wavy hair is difficult to make look smart, so I've given up battling against it and just try to make it look healthy and fight the frizz! Products make a big difference - I currently use a bit of garnier banana hair mask as a leave in, mixed with a bit of gel.

MrsMaizel · 22/06/2021 10:13

You need to use some product to get volume and it will look great and very contemporary . If you were up for using some colour some highlights would do that too.

MrsMaizel · 22/06/2021 10:13

Try Nioxin range too .

subsea · 22/06/2021 10:14

Look up the Curly girl method

rosesarered321 · 22/06/2021 10:14

I'd kill for hair like yours, nice colour and a wave!

GoldRhino · 22/06/2021 10:16

I can’t do curly girl, it gets so greasy!

Keepitonthedownlow · 22/06/2021 10:16

It's really nice

BeanyBops · 22/06/2021 10:32

Beautiful!

SpinbikeNotebook · 22/06/2021 10:40

I love it! Agree maybe more product for volume. My lovely hairdresser said use more product than you'd think in curly hair (we are both wavy / curly). She (and I) don't like curly girl either, although I know many people love it.

I've had mine permanently straightened (Kerastraight), lately, but I'm bored of it tbh. Looking forward to my waves coming back.

Who made the comment? They are probably an asshole.

GoldRhino · 22/06/2021 13:36

My sister made the comment! And yes she is an asshole.

FoxgloveSummers · 22/06/2021 13:44

I love your hair! Mine looks a bit like this when it gets wet but is too massive so becomes a bit of a mane. Don't let your sister dampen your self esteem. Women spend thousands getting their hair waved for a reason Flowers

Prettypennies · 22/06/2021 13:47

You have lovely waves! Have you considered going lighter? I think blonde would really suit your skin tone!

beeloubee · 22/06/2021 13:49

I think you have lovely hair and it's in good condition too. If you fancy a change maybe some lowlights? But I think it looks great as it is

SwimBaby · 22/06/2021 14:10

Your hair looks nice, I spend ages curling my straight hair so it looks similar to yours.

TaraR2020 · 22/06/2021 14:13

Gosh, you have beautiful hair! It looks soft, healthy and you have beautiful and defined waves!

I wouldn't bother trying to keep it straight tbh. You can do elements of cgm without using the pre-approved products (I don't get on with them either). Try a wide toothed comb instead of a brush, comb through conditioner (can use fine tooth for this), microfibre towel, good hairdryer...and just let it do its thing.

I suspect your dsis is jealous tbh.

Backthewaywecame · 22/06/2021 14:14

It’s lovely. If I were you I would grow it a bit. What does it look like if you straighten it? You’ve always got that option if you fancy a change.

TheReturnoftheSmartArse · 22/06/2021 14:17

Oh, you have beautiful hair. Mine is dead straight and I've always longed for a wave. If you feel that it might need a boost, try an iron supplement. I take a Nutrihair every day - have done for the last 7 years, and the difference is huge - it was fine and greasy before, but is now thicker and doesn't seem to need washing nearly as often. Having said that, mine was probably thinning a bit thanks to the menopause!

JaneJeffer · 22/06/2021 14:26

Family eh? Your hair is lovely and looks in great condition. You could use wella shockwaves mousse to help hold the curl.

SpinbikeNotebook · 22/06/2021 14:32

Bleddy family!

tnetenba · 22/06/2021 14:34

Your hair looks like what I keep trying to make mine look like with £100s worth of curling implements and products and probably hundreds of hours over the years. Enjoy your lovely hair Flowers.

GoldRhino · 22/06/2021 16:05

Thank you for your feedback. I went and got some mousse today and did it with a diffuser- what do u think? Not that much different but it feels like it’s got more body and oomph.

Been trying not to have a panic attack for most of the day thinking I look like a straggly old witch. Wouldn’t wish body dysmorphia on anybody.
