Bit bored - long hair or short?

MiddleOfThePack · 21/06/2021 15:36

I feel like a change - I think! - but not sure if I should go for the chop or not? Opinions please?

I do have lots of thick wavy hair - bit frizzy at the ends and I do lots of sporty things, so wash my hair quite a lot. No real reason for chopping it all of as it's easy to tie back when I'm on an off day. Just feel like a change?

Looks nice both ways.

Bit hair grows so why not chop chop?!

Bluntness100 · 21/06/2021 15:40

Didn’t you post the othe day? I’m sure I’ve seen your hair before.

JaneJeffer · 21/06/2021 15:46

Shoulder length would suit you best.

MiddleOfThePack · 21/06/2021 15:57

Bluntness100: I might have done, but would have been months/years ago now?!

Short

Girlintheframe · 21/06/2021 19:17

I like short

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 21/06/2021 20:24

Short!

HeraInTheHereAndNow · 21/06/2021 21:28

Short. Definitely. It “lifts” your face… no offence but it just brightens you, somehow 😊

MiddleOfThePack · 25/06/2021 13:54

Thanks for all your comments! I'd like to think short suits me better too, but I've had a couple of short cuts that just didn't 'lie' properly, so I'm a bit scared to make the same mistake. My hair's so thick and wavy [I know - lots would love it] it needs a wash n go cut as I have never mastered the art of 'styling' every single day.

Long

TangledUp789 · 25/06/2021 14:12

Short

ILoveShula · 25/06/2021 14:13

Get a cut that makes it more manageable.
Look for an older** hairdresser who will remember when thick wavy hair was worn not straightened into submission.

**Not being ageist, but someone who has cut wavy styles not just straight ones, and they are likely to have trained in the last couple of decades

SwimBaby · 25/06/2021 14:18

Maybe something in the middle.

MaMelon · 25/06/2021 14:23

Short Smile

And YY to getting a hairdresser who can cut wavy hair properly rather than just ‘thinning’ it out by chipping a cm into the very ends and then straightening it until it almost melts. If you do find such a person please give me their name!

FayCarew · 25/06/2021 14:46

I think short suits you better OP, but short hair is harder work.

@MaMelon, I can recommend one if you are a little to the west of London but near M25. Reasonable and good.

Changed my life. Smile

HiHoSylvie · 25/06/2021 14:50

Another vote for short! Generally, I love long hair, but I think the short suits you.

Agree you need a really good hairdresser if you're having a lot cut off. Makes such a difference.

MarshaBradyo · 25/06/2021 14:51

@FayCarew - I’m in Edinburgh so a bit too far unfortunately, but thanks so much for that link Smile

FayCarew · 25/06/2021 15:23

He's worth the journey. Smile

Ask someone with thick, wavy hair that always looks good where they get it done. That's what I did. If the hairdresser has such hair, they will understand.

I've been to £££ top salons and they give you their standard cut, you need someone who cuts according to how your hair is.

MaMelon · 25/06/2021 15:48

I used to get amazing haircuts at a local college - final year students supervised to within an inch of their lives by a rather formidable gentleman who obviously knew how to cut my thick, wavy hair. I changed from p/t to f/t hours at work so couldn't go any more, but they were fab cuts.

Kanaloa · 25/06/2021 16:04

Definitely short. A new haircut always makes me feel like a new me! And if you don’t like it it will grow back and at least you tried it out. I also love having short hair in the summer.

FayCarew · 25/06/2021 16:25

My hair grows slowly. if I went for a pixie cut it would take years to row back. I couldn't handle years of mushroom shaped hair.

BoogieFeet · 26/06/2021 15:46

I like both, but prefer the short. But I may be biased as after going back and forth on the same question I recently had my hair cut back into a bob after it growing to your length. It feels lovely and a nice change.

cardoon · 26/06/2021 18:28

I like the second pic best (shorter)

MiddleOfThePack · 04/07/2021 08:28

Mini-update - got a cut/colour booked for later this month so will see if I can pluck up courage!
