Trousers-critique me!

Hello,

So I have lived in skinnies for what feels like forever. I am trying to branch out...
I am 5'4, size 8. I have tried on various wide leg options but they seem to swamp me.

I have bought these which feel light and comfy, but smart enough for work. I know it's hard to tell from a photo, but does this ensemble look ok? Is this type of trouser ok for my size/shape? I presume the top should be tucked in?

I guess i am quite conservative/or predictable(?!) in terms of dressing, so any variation feels a bit odd. And I don't have anyone in real life to critique me!

The shape is nice, but they're too long. The way they hang at the ankle isn't great.
They'd look good that length with a heel (but who wants to wear a heel these days?!), but I'd take them up and make them skim the ankle - they'd drape much better if they weren't resting on your foot.

What kind of material are they? (is it woven or stretchy?)

Yeah really nice, maybe get them taken up, am looking for similar ones myself (but I’m plus size) and am finding it hard to get such a good fit

agree with PP - great fit and style but too long.
I've just bought some like this and really like them. Similar height and size to you. I'd never tried 'paper bag' style but I really like them for work.

@ReviewingTheSituation they are viscose...not massively stretchy.
They are only h&m so I don't mind a bit of experimentation!

In that case they will probably look loads better if they're shorter. Viscose has a lovely drape, so they should hang really nicely given the chance!

You are the same size and height as me. I find trousers tricky! I don't wear skinnies as they just make look shorter than I am. I wear tapered trousers, straight leg, and my jeans are bootleg. I have two pairs of these

The ones you are wearing suit you fine, but they are a bit long.
