How would you style this wedding dress?

Inspired by another poster who had some great advice, I thought I'd ask for some too! I don't have any bridesmaids or anything like that so no one to really ask for style advice.

I've chosen a very plain dress which is totally different to the very lacy, boho style I thought I'd like and now I'm confused.

Would you wear a sparkly belt with this dress to jazz it up a bit?

Flower crown or sparkly headband?

Veil or no veil?

Hair up or hair down?

Help!

Keep it very simple! Mine was similar. I had hair down, chandelier earrings, simple bracelet and that was it. It's already glamorous in the shape, keep it classy and simple.

thisplaceisweird · 21/06/2021 09:06

I had a very very simple veil. No sparkles, no flowers!!!

twinsister · 21/06/2021 09:07

Yes I agree... no belt or veil. Hair half up with tiara type headband. Beautiful.

BaronessBomburst · 21/06/2021 09:11

Hair half up, with a flower crown. Keep it simple and elegant. No sparkles.

TheMotherlode · 21/06/2021 09:28

Beautiful dress! I think it still lends itself well to the boho style. I’d probably wear it with loosely curled hair worn down or swept to one side, a few flowers in your hair (but probably not a full flower crown as that can look OTT), flat shoes if you’re tall enough to make it work, and minimalistic jewellery.
I would definitely wear some sort of necklace just because the neckline is quite low so there is a lot of open space and it would give something to break that up (and this is what they always say on say yes to the dress 😂)

WhereDidIGoNext · 21/06/2021 09:35

I’d do pretty much nothing, the dress is so beautiful and elegant that it doesn’t need fussing up with accessories

CluelessBride · 21/06/2021 09:57

Ooohh brilliant advice, thank you! Thanks for your lovely comments on the dress - in truth I started to have a bit of a panic that it's not "bridal" enough although when I tried it on I felt amazing.

I've found a few hair bands that I thought might work. What do you all think?

I’m not keen on the first one op, as I think the dress isn’t boho enough for it

thisplaceisweird · 21/06/2021 10:28

The third headband is beautiful!!

I would lean towards red carpet rather than boho. It's not a boho dress, it's retro glam. It doesn't need dressing up, or lots of flowers or sparkle adding, the beauty is in the stunning shape and simplicity.

CluelessBride · 21/06/2021 15:02

Great advice, thank you. I think I'll go for the third headband then, no belt and possibly a very simple veil or no veil...will see what looks right at the fitting.

I agree about the headdress, the best one is the one with all the decoration lying in the same direction.

On line The Wedding Veil Shop have a wide range.
I think a short veil would look best, something like their "Dionne" two tier, elbow length, ribbon edged veil at £65. Very simple and so pretty.

AdaColeman · 21/06/2021 16:12

Are you planning on carrying flowers?

Have you thought about wearing a necklace?

I'll carry flowers, yep, mainly so I'm not awkwardly faffing with my hands! I hadn't thought about a necklace but someone suggested it upthread. Wondering what sort would work

I'd keep your flowers simple, to match the simplicity and elegance of your dress. Not a large or trailing shape.

Possibly white calla lilies or orchids, not a large bouquet, probably seven or nine calla lilies, with some very restrained greenery.

WhereDidIGoNext · 21/06/2021 16:57

I’d skip the necklace and have some simple drop earrings op. I know it’s tempting to fill the space around the neck and chest but I really think the neckline and dress is much more elegant kept uncluttered

ISpeakJive · 21/06/2021 18:12

I agree with @WhereDidIGoNext. I like the idea of drop earrings and your hair either down or very loosely up. A very simple bracelet and no necklace.
What kind of haIr do you have?

ISpeakJive · 21/06/2021 18:19

I find these hairstyles very pretty

I agree with the previous poster who said it's not a "flower crown"/boho style dress... definitely think "red carpet" or black tie in style.

Poppins2016 · 21/06/2021 18:32

Re bridal bouquet, I would keep it simple and elegant. A large bouquet would overpower the dress. I reckon a posy style (such as Kate Middletons bridal bouquet) or something longline/trailing would suit (I've attached a screenshot of a 'trailing' style from pinterest).

Am I allowed to name a supplier? bishboshbecca.co.uk on does lovely handmade crowns - quite boho.

subsea · 21/06/2021 18:41

Beautiful dress

CluelessBride · 21/06/2021 18:50

I love these ideas! Those hairstyles are very pretty. I have quite fine hair and it's only about three inches past shoulder length so I was thinking of having sort of Hollywood volume waves. I love hair up styles but have always been told I don't look very good with mine up - bit of a chubby face Confused
