I'm rubbish at make up, but I'd quite like to open my eyes up a bit. My lashes are already black.

Would a tint be unnecessary?
Do perms last long and are they a good alternative to mascara?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I've had about 8 LVL lash lift (perm and tint) previously and paid £45 each time.
Mine are hit and miss, but I have very watery eyes!
My lashes are black too so a tint doesn't really show up. When the LVL worked, it was fabulous for about 2/3 weeks, no mascara necessary and they really curled up.
For me, when it grows out/the lashes drop out, I get lashes crossing over and going in mad directions!
In summary, the success rate varies from person to person. Gorgeous for a big event though!

I've just had my eyelashes permed & tinted for the 2nd time, my eyelashes are naturally black but the tint adds extra definition without the need for mascara which is of great benefit especially in hay-fever season!

My first treatment lasted 8 weeks but this is stretching it. My eyelashes did cross over but I soaked my eyelashes with tepid water & a cotton wool pad for a couple of minutes when this happened.

I've been paying 38.00 inc brow wax & tint by a lady who has an in home salon. I plan on "resting" my lashes autumn/winter & just using mascara & a growth/conditioning serum as I'm not sure continually having them permed is going to be doing them any good.

Thank you both for sharing your experiences. I'll try the tint too. Just give it a go and see how it pans out, maybe just for summer and then big events like Christmas.

They last about six weeks on me, but it becomes less dramatic from week 3 onwards, I'd say. I think it's more of an alternative to lash curling than mascara tbh. I have dark lashes, the first time it was tinted black and I hardly saw a difference but the next time it was blue black tint and that was a big difference. You can definitely go without mascara for a very natural and awake look but it doesn't have the same oomph as mascara, the tint also disappears quicker on me than the lash lift, a month at most. I do them on myself now after learning to do it in lockdown, it's not that difficult and I prefer the results to the ones from a beautician. As a pp I leave them alone a bit as I don't think constantly perming them is all that great for the condition of your lashes.

I do love a home job @botemp, can I ask which kit you used please?

The Iconsign brand, easily found on Amazon, the upgraded kit is usually the best buy. I use Refectocil for the tint (you have to buy the developer separately), easy to do with a mascara wand (which you get in the iconsign kit).

Warning, the glue that comes with the kit is shite, so you need to buy a decent eyelash glue as well. Although I've heard the new kits have better glue but with Amazon it's difficult to know how new your kit is. Bit of an outlay up front but it all lasts a really long time. Just watch lots of YouTube tutorials and remember to only apply all the lash lift steps on the roots of the lashes, not the entirety of the hairs as it weakens the lashes significantly. Also the smaller size of the lash guard thingy (SML), the more dramatic the lift will be.

You can also use the iconsign kit to do laminated brows but I'm still somewhat scared of how those will turn out to try it (more skeptical of the aesthetic result of them than burning my brows off or something like that).

Thank you, that's really helpful. Smile
