Lovely umbrella

A bit boring, but I'm looking for a lovely umbrella! I've been pushing a pram for pretty much the past 6 and a half years and now want a lovely umbrella to use now that I have some hands free.

Budget...up to £75ish. Preferably not black.

Any recommendations?

This one is beautiful. Slightly above your price range, but only just. I guess it really depends on the pattern you're looking for and what you like.

Wolf and Badger have some really lovely unique umbrellas if you don't like that one (it comes in a pink colour and Ollie's of plain colours as well) Just search umbrella and they'll all pop up

Lovely umbrella

Thanks! That is lovely.

I'm honestly not sure what I'm looking for in terms of pattern, so it's good to have ideas. I guess something to go with my favourite coat, which is the one I'd wear in rainy but not freezing weather. It's a warm camel trench from Cos and it would go with that Wolf and Badger one.

I treated myself to one of those Fulton transparent birdcage umbrellas last year. It’s great, covers my hair well to shoulders (to stop it frizzing) and I can actually see where I’m going too!

I have one of those and it lights up!

Not very elegant though.

I have this one from joules. It's very sturdy and has a very sweet wooden duck head on the handle!!

SpinbikeNotebook · 20/06/2021 13:05

Oh I saw those Fulton ones! They're really cute. It's a good point that you can see through them Grin. Hadn't considered that.

I think, probably, I'm after something more classic. I'm tall, blonde and a size 16/18, so can end up accidentally channeling giant toddler vibes. Learnt my lesson the hard way with Mary Janes and dungarees Grin.

Think I want something well curved and quite big for coverage, but possibly plain or a more classic print.

What about those inside out ones that don’t drip on the floor?

SpinbikeNotebook · 20/06/2021 13:30

Oh I haven't heard of those. Will take a look!

I love the Fulton range that has a plain (usually black or navy) on the outside and then a beautiful pattern on the inside - usually big colourful floral gorgeous pattern but I’ve also seen leopard print or stripes.

There are loads on their website hit here’s an example - umbrellaworld.co.uk/products/fulton-bloomsbury-auto-walking-umbrella-garden-rose?currency=GBP&variant=33133346914413&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping&utm_campaign=gs-2020-07-07&utm_source=google&utm_medium=smart_campaign&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4PfC5pum8QIVktrVCh2aegy6EAkYAiABEgJJIPD_BwE

They are good quality too, although they are standard size, not handbag/ compact.
I had to stop buying because I frequently left them on the train!!

Sgtmajormummy · 20/06/2021 13:42

I live in a very windy city and ordinary umbrellas just don’t last.
I was looking for Gustbuster umbrellas but they don’t deliver to Italy, so I compromised with a Collar and Cuffs London umbrella with a windproof second dome. Lots of variety on
Amazon.

Yes I like the walking length. I had one years ago that had a shoulder strap which was handy (for a commuter).

The Fulton Bloomsbury range are lovely.

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 20/06/2021 13:45

Go to tk maxx , you will get a nice one much cheaper . I got a lulu Guiness ones for £10!
As an aside the pretty ones won't be any better so if you want longevity then go for a proper brand !

Sgtmajormummy · 20/06/2021 14:00

All sorts here and the classic style seem well made (the ones with a duck handle are super cute). hdueo.com/

Those upside-down umbrellas are great for getting into a car. They don’t soak you or the upholstery and usually have an open/close button. Mine is black outside and blue skies inside Smile.

SpinbikeNotebook · 20/06/2021 14:04

Oh thanks for these. The Liberty ones are especially pretty.

@ViaRia That gardeny Fulton umbrella is beautiful! Great design, you can see prettiness on the inside.
Good thread, I also prefer full size umbrellas when open, not small sized that will not hold up to much wind! I've been on the look out for a foldable one but when I look in Boots or a supermarket, they seem like they will have small canopies!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 20/06/2021 15:38

I have a Liberty one, it's beautiful ,about 20 years old ,no idea how much as it was a gift.
