I'm shit at makeup, I'm 30 next month and really need a skin care routine before I turn into my mother.

I have the most ridiculous skin type, it's dry as the Sahara whilst being the perfect home to cystic acne. I've been on roaccutane 3 x and my skin is now really dry.

I tried;
The ordinary (thanks TikTokHmm) but it just sits on my skin.

Liz Earle and I did like that skin care regime but the moisturiser didn't sit right my skin and I felt I needed more

Number 7, the night cream was about the amount of moisture I need during the day, but the smell is a bit much and makes my eyes water.

Please help me with a skin care routine!! I don't have a budget, I'll make it work. My dermatologist recommended Bobbi brown makeup and skin care but I don't know what to think anymore

I love Trinny London CC cream

Sorry hit post by mistake!
I like Trinny London CC cream in the day as a cover. I use aldi moisturiser and serum. It's cheap so you can use plenty

I work in skincare OP. As a starter try some pharmaceutical/gentle brands while you get used to having a regime, and read up on the subject so you get used to which products do what. CeraVe are good - I'd recommend their moisturizing face wash followed by their cream (not the light version as this wouldn't be enough for you). Introduce acids to your skin slowly (Pixi a couple of times a week at night), and use a hyaluronic-based day serum (Vichy Mineral89 is good). Use spf every day (again, I recommend Vichy). Keep reading and introducing the odd product from recommendations - I.e night creams, I love neals yard rose balm for this - and enjoy the process! It takes time to find what works for you

I've tried loads of different mouisturisers over the years. In the last year and a bit I've been using face theory they have a sale on at the moment.

My forehead wrinkles are much less and I used to have dry patches but don't now. It doesn't seem to irritate my rosacea either.

If you aren't used to putting on make up why not start simple a bit of tinted moisturiser or I have used bare minerals powder foundation for years it's really easy to put on and doesn't look like your wearing anything.

Then a touch of mascara and a lipstick or lipgloss.

I absolutely love everything dermologica
Have a facial maybe every 6-8 weeks
Why not go for a consultation and facial with someone who could thoroughly assess your skin and maybe let you try some samples to see what suits you
I used to love Decleor but the prices became ridiculous
I like some Ordinary stuff too .. especially the prices and ethos ( Deciem)
It's so hit and miss trying to find a regime that works
Don't forget to drink gallons of water ... makes such a massive difference to my skin too

Psychonabike · 20/06/2021 19:22

Skin + Me
Vichy normaderm range
Megashade sun serum from Zitsticka
Bobbi Brown oil free foundation

I swear by la roache posay. My skin is very sensitive and it’s one of the only things I can use without having a bad reaction of some sort.

Miseryisabutterfly · 20/06/2021 20:11

*roche

Miseryisabutterfly · 20/06/2021 20:12

I use a Vichy dermablend compact foundation, which is also very gentle

Nobranothanks · 20/06/2021 20:44

@Miseryisabutterfly I'm the same - it's completely changed my skin!

Miseryisabutterfly · 20/06/2021 21:22

Mine too @Nobranothanks! It’s fantastic stuff.
